Any amateur meteorologists out there have a feeling for Saturday at Cabrillo? _________________ Spennie the Wind Junkie

if the cut-off low drifts to the East as modeled, this weekend at Cabrillo should be beautiful fall weather with clear skies and mid-teen winds, possibly upper teens for Sunday/Monday.

Why did you need the predicitons of amateur meteorologists when the pros at Iwindsurf are still forecasting? Think we're better than they are?
Also, without a Cabrillo sensor how will you know if it is worth the drive? |

Jack and I went today. If we could brave the rain it WOULD'VE been awesome. Around 5pm the trees were bending and my meter was reading 20-25mph gusts at the water (bay side). Even stronger gusts on the surf side. But heavy rain stopped us from going, we did try to wait it out though |

While rain in Dec would stop me from windsurfing, I'm pretty sure rain in SoCal this time of the year is still 60 degrees, with 70 degree waters.
That's tropical! |

allen: Yes, in a way. When I took a meteorology class in college, the instructor told us that while data is available to everyone, it takes local knowledge to predict accurately. Godsey is good, but he's from the Bay Area and lives in the Gorge; I was looking for some local insights, or maybe just a hunch.
I live too far away for the sensor to be much help on my initial decision to go (62 miles of L.A. freeways), but yes it's a bitch that it's down.
As for sailing in the rain, can't be done without goggles IMHO. _________________ Spennie the Wind Junkie

Maybe if you are just cruising around in 10-15 mph winds. In 20-25 mph I'm thinking full face sheild, that stuff stings!
