We are not talking about Bush.

No, of course you don't want to talk about Bush.

He is utterly indefensible, although your side of the aisle tries endlessly to defend him -- and even credit him with the bin Laden kill.

You don't want to talk about something that's so enormously embarrassing... which makes it all the more laughable as your side bends over backwards to paint Obama as a Marxist fascist Leninist commie socialist terrorist born in Kenya. And even funnier when you paint Romney as the next pope.

(Do popes wear magic underwear and go to Planet Kolob? Do popes flip-flop so much they could power a small city with their gyrations? Do popes have car elevators for all their Cadillacs? And do popes pay no income tax?)

The death of the Ambassador and the others in Benghazi IS a campaign issue and it absolutely should be. Every administration is charged with protecting it's personnel at home and around the globe. If they fail to provide that protection the voters need to decide whether they want to give that significant responsibility to the same people for a further four years.

Hillary takes full responsibility for Bengazi-gate to protect Obama, and then...

Our own little McCarthy, who has no shame, will stop at nothing to blame Obama for everything. Here's what Ambassador Stevens' father, who was a renowned Deputy Attorney General in California, has to say about such shameful behavior:

The father of Chris Stevens, the US Ambassador who was killed in Libya last month in Benghazi, stated that his son’s death should not be politicized during the presidential campaign.

And you would expect something different from a registered Democrat?

Leave it to mrgybe to kick up a lot dirt on the Libyan incident and show heaps of feigned concern. He can always be depended on to find any possible point of criticism no matter how small and make a big deal of it. If it wasn't the Libyan incident, it would be something else. In my view it's simply a shoddy opportunistic attempt to create a scene, target blame and irresponsibly demand immediate action. It's shows a complete lack of the caution and patience needed in complex international situations to obtain the necessary facts to ultimately take the appropriate action.

I find the comments of mrgybe and Darrell Issa, which ignore the specific requests of Ambassador Stevens' parents, simply despicable. There is no analysis, there is simply a "gotcha" and hate-filled attacks on Obama. There are no details about what might be done better--just as there are no details about what changes in the tax code might make it fairer, and not just another huge payday for the rich.

One has to ask what better path their might be. We have now been at "war" with Al Queda since well before the second bombing of the World Trade Center. As recently as April of this year British newspapers had Al Queda on the run,
Quote:
Tobias Feakin, director of national security at the Royal United Services Institute, estimated that 80 per cent had been killed or captured.

That article went on to describe the Arab Spring as a failure for Al Queda, opining:

Quote:
That highlighted one of al-Qaeda's most wounding defeats. The Arab leaders whom it most wanted to destroy - notably President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt - were overthrown by popular revolts, not bin Laden or his followers. As such, the Arab Spring highlighted al-Qaeda's increasing irrelevance and its failure to win over Muslim opinion.

Instead, last year's uprisings "came to reflect a different kind of ambition", said Ms Azzam, involving the "end of dictatorial regimes, not necessarily in the name of Western-style democracy, but certainly not in the name of a bin Ladenist state".

Notwithstanding this optimism in April, in October we have a revised picture of continued unrest in the Middle East. The religious schism between Sunnis and Shiites, and the values schism between those seeking democratic states and those seeking religious states is playing out in Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, Mali, Nigeria and Syria. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/2012/09/where-is-al-qaida.html

We have spent $1.4 trillion to date on the two centerpiece wars http://costofwar.com/, with realistic estimates of the eventual cost running well over $3 trillion. Yet despite the support of Obama for the security establishment's recommended approach of troop surges and assassinations by drone, and their touting of the demise of 80% of Al Queda, the Middle East remains a dangerous and chaotic place, with the United States seen by many as the symbol of all their woes. Even in a place like Libya, where the United States is looked on favorably by many for their role in overthrow of Kadaffi, militias remain dangerous and unpredictable. And the far right in the United States ignores the importance of efforts by Ambassador Stevens to establish diplomatic rather than merely military ties in Libya, and describes such efforts as a sign of Obama's weakness.

I don't know enough about the current intelligence to know whether Obama's approach of targeted assassination is working. Certainly nobody on the left thinks that he is weak, but instead think he is not sufficiently skeptical of recommendations by the CIA and the military. It seems that the military approach to date has largely failed. Yet the response of the right is to try more of the same.

There is a definition of insanity that dates back to Einstein. You can google it yourself. But hate-talk, which ignores the wishes of grieving parents, is not constructive in any way.

Techno. Your comment is beyond the pale. To insinuate that Jan Stevens, who I know well, would subordinate his viewpoint of the death of his son to his political registration is vile. If you had any shame you would feel it now.

What is vile Mac is your lack of concern for what happened. Stevens son and three others are dead, there was some serious incompetence and oversight involved, and without question an orchestrated cover up. Mr. Stevens, the other families, and the American people deserve and demand answers, not the ignorant spin and lies from the obama team that we have been getting. This may have been an inconvenient time for obama for this to happen but that's the way it goes.

Matty you sorry sack of shit. I imagine that Ambassador Stevens died as he lived--seeking diplomatic solutions to complicated problems. His father and his mother asked that this not be made a political football. Your description of their demand for answers, and the approach of the troglodytes you support, is wrong in every way. You have no idea what you are talking about. I know Jan Stevens--you are using the death of his son to attack Obama while he is mourning that death and asking you to shut up. If you had any shame, you would feel it now.

I am offended also. This family wants to have their dead son not used for a political football and your response is

"And you would expect something different from a registered Democrat?"

Such nastiness reminds me again of the greatness of America lost, because some of our people have been brainwashed by the fake media into thinking this stuff is OK.
