Hey Dave,

Mine is pristine (ridden twice), and yours for the low low price of
$200 ;*). Actually there were 3 of them at the last CGWA swap meet.
One went for $80 (it was more beat up than mine). At that price,
I'll just keep mine for a backup, it is fun to jump!

p.s. I have a Randy French 75 Ltr slalomish board that is in primo
shape and would make a great jump board. I couldn't give it away at the
last swap.

That board was like $1195 in 1997.

How's the forward loop coming? Wink

I have accomplished what I call a "face loop" so far Laughing Im waiting for conditions where there isnt a 50% chance that extra 15mph gust wont hit right when I go for it and send me flying like a ninja star.

In the Gorge? You'll be on Medicare by then.

Watch out for the assloop stage, too.

Im ok with the normal 20% chance of getting blasted by a 10mph increase but it has been crazy the last week I was out, I thought I was back in AZ

I can only speak for the older GEM 8'10". It was a slalom board,
but not a no-nose. That board was smoke'n fast, and it weighed like
14lbs. It was also flat, flat flat, but somehow Richard Greene managed
to put some magic in the planform, that made it rideable in the Gorge.
I did jump the crap out of that board (I was a lot younger then), but
eventually delammed the entire bottom surface. It did jump well,
but it was a full on slalom board, and not designed to take the pounding,
plus it was still pretty easy to pearl in Gorge swell. So, I guess what I'm
saying is, it makes a great jump board, if that's all you're gonna use it for,
for about 2 seasons, then it's done. I loved that board, but you really
want something with a little more nose kick in the Gorge, even if it's
only used for jumping.

1. A great jump board, fer sure; it's the landings that bite you in the face. Wink

2. Yup. What good's a jump board that's fast on flat water but forces non-expert riders to slow down in big terrain? On flat water Paul's Hypertech blew my wave board's doors off: ANY chop, and I smoked him (and could hear his teeth and knees chattering). Who's gonna jump higher? And who's going to have more fun between jumps?

Don't forget, too, Chaco, that you'll need to buy Huckers and set their tuning on JUMP to optimize your jump potential. Another option is old, full-bellied, tight-leeched sails like Hurricanes.

It is the older model GEM, probably mid 90's. Its pristine and only $50, so if it only lasts a few years no big deal. Im am a little worried that its a bit too big though. Id probably mostly use it at stevenson and mosier.

Yeah, ill have to work on that next season, maybe pick a size that Id use most at the hatch and get a used Hucker. Or revisit my realwind on a slalom board, that thing definitely pulls from the top.

It'd be worth $50 for an experiment, but where are you storing all these boards? ;*)
