How much is the JP Thruster like its Freestyle Wave? I can give you
a slightly different review than what you're looking for, but it might
be useful.

I've ridden the 2012 Fanatic Freewave 85 and the 2012 JP FSW 85,
and there's no comparison: the Fanatic kills the JP in every way.
It's faster, smoother, jibes better, jumps higher, better in chop
and better on waves. Unless JP has has a major rethink about
their shapes for 2013, I'd take the Fanatic every day of the week.

I've also ridden the 2011 and 2012 Fanatic Skates vs the 2011
JP Freestyle, in the 99/100l sizes. Same deal: the Fanatic has it
all over the JP in every department. Faster, smoother, slidier,
better pop, more stable.

Fanatic has been on a roll for the past couple of years, and as far
as I can tell, JP hasn't kept up. (BTW, I'm not just a Fanatic fanboy.
I've ridden great Goya, Quattro, Tabou and Angulo boards in the
past 18 months, too. The JPs haven't kept up with those, either.
Oh yeah, and I used to ride nothing *but* JPs!)

what JP are you asking about..... for '12 & '13 I see no 85L either FSW or single thruster, the Fanatic tested was a 95L the JPa 92L

the Fanatic was as they said on Boardseeker ' arguably' the best FSW in the test.

The findings of these tests and reports are the impressions of sailors any may vary greatly from yours, but in some respects its all we have to go on.

Fanatic said in the past that they could not get the tri fin to work, so they made twins and quads (interview in Boards magazine) one might gather they have figured it out now on 3 fins.

the Witchcraft Chakra would be my pick from that lot tested

By the way, I've tried the 2012 Fanatic Quad, too. It's the one
Fanatic I've ridden that hasn't seemed truly great, so I ended up
getting a Goya Quad (92l), which is both faster and has more of
that super-quick back foot turning than than Fanatic. Had I been
able to try the Quattro LS Quad before I bought, I might have
opted for that instead, but really any of the Keith Teboul-shaped
production quads (Goya, Quattro LS and Quattro KT) are awesome.

FWIW The Goya quad would be on my short list in larger quads, umm 92--104L, but at the same or less money the Witchcraft would as well

the number of fins do alter the characteristics of the hull, shape..nose tail, tail width , thickness, rocker, bottom shape ie vee or concave variations of all known , all things that will carry the handling,

but the sheer number of fins won't change the bacsic character, all my opinion and of course YMMV.

but then then OP wants 3 fin thoughts

I meant the JP 84L FSW.

I ended up getting the Fanatic 85L TE used...or barely used.

Today i used the board for the first time on flat water. It wasn't an ideal day. Very gusty... slogging on a 3.7 one minute...than way over powered on the same 3.7.... Couldn't really play with it. 40 min later...no wind...or alot less wind.
