This is your opportunity to oppose the restriction of public access to a significant piece of Hood River's beautiful waterfront and encourage the authorities to develop it's shores in a way that benefits all rather than a profiteering few who would scar our waters!

Keep The Boat Basin fully open to paddlers, fisherman and beginner windsurfers.

Please let The Port of Hood River know that you oppose the cable-park proposal HERE: http://portofhoodriver.com/waterfront/CP.php

Scroll down to: "Provide your input on the cable park"

The status of Hood River's "World Class" waterfront is at stake!

Public Process and Input

Special public notices will be placed in the Hood River News prior to the above noted Commission meetings. Please note when public testimony on the proposed cable park is and is not accepted.

Spoken public testimony is scheduled for the September 12th Special Public Meeting.

Written testimony may be received at any time throughout the process by mail, email or by submitting comments via this form:

And, of course you could also give comments in favor of the cable park. Every windsurfer I've talked to is excited about the possibility of another fun activity for kids (and grown-up kids) in the Hood.

It is important to let your voice be heard about the proposed cable park in the boat basin. Six opponents of the cable park will be making their presentation at the Hood River Port office, 1100 Marine Drive (next to the bridge) on Tuesday, Aug. 21st, at 5:00 pm. No additional testimony from the audience will be taken at this time, but you will be able to hear important information about why the Port should refuse to lease the basin to the Naito developers for a cable park.
On Sept. 12th, there will be a special public testimony meeting for anyone to express their views. The meeting will be at 5:00 pm with the location TBA.

Seems about 50/50 from the windsurfers I've talked to.

Many of the current users of the boat basin are neither windsurfers nor kiteboarders. They are a diverse group of kayakers, paddleboarders, fishermen, swimmers, floaterrs, etc. of all ages and abilities whose rights to fully enjoy public waters ought to be protected. The Naito proposal would shut them out in favor of a special interest group of cable park riders and the developer.

The basin is where I take my friends kids to paddle board. Easy launch. And they can not get blown across the river.
