Fleet18 invites you to the Storied Annual 'Margarita Run' - Saturday October 20th at Noon

San Francisco Bay Area's Historic Windsurfer Fleet18 holds its long-standing annual 'Margarita Run' on Foster City's Leo Ryan Lagoon on Saturday October 20th at Noon off Shell Boulevard (GPS to 664 Shell Boulevard, Foster City, CA 94404). Entry fee: $10.

The 'Margarita Run' was started in the 80s and since has become a classic for Bay Area windsurfing enthusiasts. It is a two-leg race: the first leg is a standard long-distance race starting in the main lagoon and finishing at a sand beach off Cutter Lane, after a small (and often challenging) detour around the pillars of the Foster City Boulevard bridge. The second leg is a pursuit race started in reverse order of the finish times of the first leg and unwinding the course of the first leg. Trophies are given for first-to-the-beach and first-overall (i.e. first to cross the starting/finish line by Shell Boulevard).

During the potluck break at the halfway you can spin yarn of times long since past while consuming copious amounts of Margarita (hence the name of the race). Please bring a small snack to share.

The Fleet 18 Blue Boar Beach run will be held in the Foster City Lagoon on Sunday 4/10/2016. Meet at noon in Leo Ryan Park. We aim to be racing by 1pm. It is the same format as the Margarita Run and serves as the kickoff to the Fleet 18 tuesday evening racing season.
