Why are you so willing to box yourself in with a 400? Cost?
Not good enough.
You want the proper mast curve with the sail of choice, and putting a 400 on a tall extension won't give you that.
Bite the bullett and get a 430, even if it's used, if it's a skinny, it will have pleanty of life in it still, and your larger sails will rig the way they are supposed to.
Short cuts in windsurfing usually result in giving up a lot of proper performance.

Have you seen the Ezzy Panther Elite 5.7 for 2013?

Four battens will make the 5.7 feel lighter than your 5.0 and it will rig perfectly on your 400 base with a 430 Ezzy mast top.

The HSM Firelight 6.0 has a luff of 428 (same as the Ezzy 5.3 above) and rigs on a 400 mast. I have the sail and it is hands down the best light wind sail I've used.

I'm not commenting on an Ezzy mast in a HSM sail as I don't have any insight there.

@nw30. Itīs not a matter of being willing to box my self in. Yes its a matter of money. Trying to make the most of what i got. When it comes down to choosing time on water with a sail thatīs not performing 100% and no time on water at all, the choice is pretty easy. -And well in terms of 430 being essential, Barry spaniard at maui sails claims his 5.6 mutant to perform well on 400 Ezzy and Ola Helenius at Simmer claims the Iron 5.7, Icon 5.6 and blacktip 5.7 perform reasonably well on 400 masts for a guy around my weight. So not everyone agrees with you.

Thanks for your info guys, the elite looks very good.

some mast ramblings:

Naish and Ezzy will be pretty close as far as compatibility, we rigged and sailed a Ezzy Panther on the Naish Firestick mast and it was very acceptable.

on mix and match masts of like manufacture, rx 370 & 400 Ezzys, normally 1 size difference is acceptable and using the small bottom 370 in our example and the 400 top is the way Ezzy recommends. I have seen enough positive reports that the other way round works as well.

I have a 5.0 Panther which recommends a 400, its the only sail that I have that does require that size, so I did not and still don't want a 400 for 1 sail.

I tried a 370 with a RDM Extendo by North which give 40cm of length, then 8cm or so of regular extension, it looks like crap on the beach but sails ok, read OK.
Then tried a 370 bottom W 430 Top, both Ezzy and this works great
the 2 = the 400cm recommended just a little different curve overall
