yes why didn't NBC put out all the other tapes they had of trump harassing females on the set of apprentice and other racist tapes they had of him. It had been known trump was a pussy grabber since his NY party days. Even so much as hanging out with a convicted pedophile. Even late in his life 1997 a lady filed a case against him for doing exactly what he claimed on the access Hollywood tapes 20 years later. _________________ when good people stay silent the right wing are the only ones heard. |

why doesn't this make front pages of the media... These guys were just killed recently and trump did not have time because of his golf commitments. Remember he attacked Obama for Obamas golfing. said he would be too busy at the whitehouse.
where are the hearings on these 4, note the state department has not even been given names for most posts to be approved. I wonder, is the lack of personnel replaced/hired by Tillerson had an effect on these guys getting massacred. We really should have 4 or so years of hearings to determine it.
I wonder is trump tasked these poor boys to find out if he could change the Niger yellowcake document to be authentic. Where is right wing source (other than Russian news) Alex Jones investigating this potential nuke bombshell?

The former CEO of NPR set out for conservative America to find out why these people are so wrong about everything. It turns out they weren't.
Ken Stern watched the increasing polarization of our country with growing concern. As a longtime partisan Democrat himself, he felt forced to acknowledge that his own views were too parochial, too absent of any exposure to the "other side". In fact, his urban neighborhood is so liberal, he couldn't find a single Republican - even by asking around.
So, for one year, he crossed the aisle to spend time listening, talking, and praying with Republicans of all stripes. With his mind open and his dial tuned to the right, he went to evangelical churches, shot a hog in Texas, stood in pit row at a NASCAR race, hung out at Tea Party meetings, and sat in on Steve Bannon's radio show. He also read up on conservative wonkery and consulted with the smartest people the right has to offer.
What happens when a liberal sets out to look at issues from a conservative perspective? Some of his dearly cherished assumptions about the right slipped away. Republican Like Me reveals what led him to change his mind and his view of an increasingly polarized America. |

So MorbidlyGrotesque, you agree with Mr. Stern that Trump's attacks on the press are inapproriate? Or did you not read more before posting what you thought was a blurb supporting your ideological position?

The mainstream media is constantly under attack by the president. They are “frankly disgusting,” “tremendously dishonest,” “failing,” “they make up the stories” and are now threatened with loss of broadcast licenses if they continue to author “fake news.” And that is just a random Wednesday’s worth of words from Donald Trump.
Some may take pleasure in the discomfort of the media, but it is not a good situation for the country to have the media in disrepute and under constant attack. Virtually every significant leader of this nation, from Jefferson on down, has recognized the critical role of an independent press to the orderly functioning of democracy. We should all be worried that more than 65 percent of voters think there is a lot of fake news in the mainstream media and that our major media institutions are seen as creating, not combating, our growing partisan divide.
Some of this loss of reputation stems from effective demagoguery from the right and the left, as well as from our demagogue-in-chief, but the attacks wouldn’t be so successful if our media institutions hadn’t failed us as well.
None of this justifies the attacks from President Trump, which are terribly inappropriate coming from the head of government. At the same time, the media should acknowledge its own failings in reflecting only their part of America. You can’t cover America from the Acela corridor, and the media need to get out and be part of the conversations that take place in churches and community centers and town halls.
I did that, and loved it, though I regret waiting until well after I left NPR to do so. I am skeptical that many will do so, since the current situation in an odd way works for Trump, who gets to rile his base, and for the media, which has grown an audience on the back of Washington dysfunction. In the end, they are both short-term winners. It is the public that is the long-term loser.
Ken Stern is the president of Palisades Media Ventures and the former CEO of National Public Radio. His book “Republican Like Me: How I Left the Liberal Bubble and Learned to Love the Right” (Harper) is out Tuesday.
By the way MaliciousGrump - "big boys" in the world of written communication cite the sources of the material they post. I guess you missed that lesson in school. |

The president of SEIU United Service Workers West, a labour organisation whose members attended the protest, linked the assault to the larger political landscape. In the aftermath of Charlottesville Mr Trump faced fierce criticism for equating left-wing counterprotesters with white supremacists.
“Unfortunately, such hateful crimes have been fostered by the climate of fear and division established by the Trump Administration, and vehicular attacks have actually been actively promoted by the forces right-wing extremism”, David Huerta said in a statement. |

A new survey finds a big split in our military officers and the troops in general view their current commander in chief.
The survey, released this week by the Military Times, found that 44 of all troops surveyed in the poll have a favorable view of Trump, while roughly 40 percent have an unfavorable view of him.
But when broken down by troop class, the results shifted to be more negative for the president.
The survey found that 53.4 percent of officers had an unfavorable view of President Trump, while 30.6 percent view him favorably. Another 16 percent said they felt neutral. |
