interesting article how the rich and powerful use lawsuits to stop freedom of speech via any media.

Here is a rich right wing trump supporter billionaire hiding behind the scenes having a lawfirm find cases to back so he can sue a media that outed him for being gay. He is another litigious Donald obviously..

This tactic was used by racists to stop the media reporting on race incidents in the south, The supreme court ruled with the media that this was stopping free speech with these lawsuits. We see this new class of billionaires using it a different way.

Now did the Gawker have the right to out right winger Hogan for doing his partners wife? 140 million in damages..? Maybe right wingers need to stop f ing their partners wives? Well it is going to go to the supreme court, and if it goes to the right wing.

he is sick if he thinks this is a great "one of my greater philanthropic things
"

The legal campaign against Gawker has roots in the racist South

Quote:
Stuart Karle is a partner and general counsel of North Base Media, a venture capital firm. He was general counsel of the Wall Street Journal from 2004 to 2008.

Silicon Valley drives the future, but at the moment one of its more prominent members is getting attention for dragging us back to Alabama circa 1960.

Peter Thiel, a brilliant entrepreneur in the overlapping worlds of information and technology, hasn’t simply admitted to financing a litigation campaign intended to destroy a widely read news site — Gawker — he’s bragged about it. In an interview with the New York Times, Thiel described underwriting lawsuits alleging defamation and invasion of privacy against Gawker as “one of my greater philanthropic things that I’ve done.”

Thiel’s tactics in fact resemble nothing so much as the legal maneuvers white racists used to threaten the Northern press with ruin if it continued to cover the violent official response to efforts to desegregate the South in the 1950s and ’60s.

NBC and its brain-dead clones are covering Congressional Dems lobbying for levying yet more gun laws on innocent citizenry after the Orlando shooting. You wouldn't even know, without tuning in actual NEWS, that the heads of our intelligence agencies and military forces are testifying today before a Congressional committee about how larger, more dangerous, wider spread, more powerful, and better organized ISIS forces are becoming.

Meanwhile, Obama is visibly and audibly more excited about increasing gun control on innocent citizens and about Trump than he is about ISIS.

Why? Because he is clueless about the threat ISIS poses and what to do about it and is more concerned about optics and their immediate PR impact than he is about the future of the world, especially beyond November, 2016. He still thinks that while he still blames the 2016 State of the Union on Bush, no one will blame the 2017 State of the Union --- and the world -- on Obama. He is clearly more concerned about his legacy WHILE IN OFFICE than about the world your children will face.

His loyal media demonstrably feel the same way.

it is easier and legal in the USA for a person on a terrorist watch list, a terrorist, a wife beater, a pediophile to buy a weapon of assalt riffle than to either renew a drivers license or get a ID.

Now Brennan has elaborated: ISIS is already a bigger and more extreme threat than Al Qaeda ever was.

NBC? The Zika virus. The Egyptair plane crash. Jimmy Carter is glad the Braves won a ball game.

lets see if the media plays this one all over. Here is a real human... notice he is calling right wing wacos haters.... If I as a liberal owned the media this would be front page...

http://www.tampabay.com/news/religion/bishop-robert-lynch-it-is-religion-including-our-own-which-targets-lgbt/2281687
Quote:

ST. PETERSBURG — Saying that singling people out because of their religion, sexual orientation, or nationality must be offensive to God, Bishop Robert Lynch responded to the attacks on the Pulse nightclub in Orlando with a sternly worded blog post.

Lynch is bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg. In the article, which he posted on his blog on Monday, Lynch also said the founding fathers never meant for the Second Amendment to apply to assault weapons and barring Muslims from entering the country is un-American.

Here is his post:

Today I write with a heavy heart arising from the tragedy which occurred in the early morning hours yesterday at a gay, lesbian, transgender nightclub in Orlando, our neighbor to the east. Yesterday, the best I could muster was to send these words by text message to my brother, Bishop John Noonan, bishop of Orlando: "John, I am so sorry. With love to and for all." Today with a new dawn, I once again have some thoughts which I wish to share.

Our founding parents had no knowledge of assault rifles, which are intended to be weapons of mass destruction. In crafting the second amendment to the Constitution which I affirm, they thought only of the most awkward of pistols and heavy shotguns. I suspect they are turning in their graves if they can but glimpse at what their words now protect. It is long past time to ban the sale of all assault weapons whose use should be available only to the armed forces. If one is truly prolife, then embrace this issue also and work for the elimination of sales to those who would turn them on innocents.

Second, sadly it is religion, including our own, which targets, mostly verbally, and also often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people. Attacks today on LGBT men and women often plant the seed of contempt, then hatred, which can ultimately lead to violence.

Those women and men who were mowed down early yesterday morning were all made in the image and likeness of God.

We teach that. We should believe that. We must stand for that.

i bet the right wing believe that even cspan is controlled by liberals... in their so called victim game of the media. they own it and when they do not own it they control it. again 95% plus of talk radio is right wing. Not one single liberal across the nation on the radio in our nations history.

ever...

well another school is in lockdown because of guns... and the right wing will not allow the vote to the house.

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/6/22/1541322/-Rep-John-Lewis-leads-House-Democrats-into-action-for-gun-safety?detail=email&link_id=1&can_id=fec359fcb3d975820be588c8a5b7cffa&source=email-breaking-amazing-house-dems-stage-unprecedented-sit-in-demanding-gun-safety-vote-continued-updates-coming-in&email_referrer=breaking-amazing-house-dems-stage-unprecedented-sit-in-demanding-gun-safety-vote-continued-updates-coming-in&email_subject=breaking-amazing-house-dems-stage-unprecedented-sit-in-demanding-gun-safety-vote-continued-updates-coming-in
Quote:

Georgia Rep. Rep. John Lewis, the heart, the soul of congressional Democrats, is leading his colleagues in a sit-in for a vote on gun safety legislation. You won't see it televised, because the Republicans controlling the House also control the cameras. C-SPAN, however, is replaying the speeches of Democrats leading up to the action.

Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy, who led the talking filibuster to force the votes in the Senate earlier this week is on the House floor in solidarity. If you have a Democratic senator, call his or her office and urge them to join Murphy. Also call your Democratic House representative and urge them to join. The Capitol switchboard number is (202) 224-3121, and they will connect you.

While most of the article is ok, i can rip this piece to shreds. Are people in the media this clueless to psychology of human factors?

First I will concur with their estimate that he received at least 2 billion dollars worth of free advertising, that seems quit valid.

First no discussion of how the right wing lies about being the victims of the media factor. That when people are convinced they are the victims of the media (ie right wingers claim they are the victims) that typical negative media is also supportive of the cause. Trump exemplified this by using his un-presidential socially unacceptable to a liberal hate talk. This talk is positive in a right wingers mind and reinforced in their minds as media bias. So this discussion I found very off in its metrics.

Now Hillars media attention was predominately not of her choosing, it was right wing smear. Benghazi and email stuff. Yes definitely negative by the media severe as the right wing intended by holding their is it 6th major investigation to date. Again over WW2 there were less congressional investigations, over Nixon watergate there were less. Over 9-11 there were less. Over Iraq war lies there were virtually none.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/monkey-cage/wp/2016/06/24/a-deep-dive-into-the-news-medias-role-in-the-rise-of-donald-j-trump/?wpisrc=nl_politics&wpmm=1

Quote:
But how do we know media coverage actually affected voters?

It shouldn’t be difficult to think that coverage of Trump — valued at about $2 billion as of March — did affect voters. The logic here is simple: People do not change their opinions without new information. People do not suddenly decide, for no reason, to support a candidate they hadn’t previously supported. For Trump, a lot of the relevant information came from the news media.

It is why Republicans came to see him more favorably in the initial months after he announced his candidacy.

And it is why the volume of coverage that Trump and the other Republican candidates received was so strongly correlated with their poll numbers. Here are two graphs to show this.

ya this one certainly addresses Matt-tys claim that the dems had the truth that Bush put out. and still it shows how stupid americans are to this day.

Imagine this Matt-ty just recently said that dems had the intelligence that Bush had.

So why are people who post here so clueless to the real world, obviously the media for one? Lets see how many media outlets tell people about this.

Quote:

In 2008, the Center for Public Integrity completed a project in which they went over the public statements by eight top Bush administration officials on the topic of Iraq, and found that no fewer than 935 were false, including 260 statements by President Bush himself. But the theory on which the White House operated was that whether or not you could fool all of the people some of the time, you could certainly scare them out of their wits. That's what was truly diabolical about their campaign.

In a speech given at the Federalist Society, George Will indicated he had changed his party registration from Republican to unaffiliated

"This is not my party,” he told the audience, the news site PJ Mediafirst reported.

Oh, really? George Will bemoans, and is clearly frightened, of the ascendancy of Donald Trump in that utterly self serving declamation. He professes shock that such a terrible thing could have happened, ignoring his outsized role in creating the mess he now so clearly fears.

He now finds himself unable to support the “people’s choice," Donald Trump.
