New line of go pro camera's look great for video. How do they compare for still shots? trying to decided between go pro and an olympus tough camera or something similar?
It seems like go pro is the way to go for video and a digital camera (olympus, panasonic, nikon, pentax) is going to be the best for its intended purpose. are there any good hybrids's between the two? I would like to use it more than just for video

I'm not sure about Go Pros (because I use a Contour), but their
HD video camera is probably 1920X1080, so, just frame shots off
the thing are going to be about 2 Mega Pixels. If you're wanting
to make a large blow-up (like a poster), that won't be enough,
but it's plenty dense for an 8X10.
A "hybrid", would be a weird kinda bird, because you'd need a CCD
that shot video bigger than 1920X1080 (the current standard), which
would be of limited benefit on an HD TV or projected from an HD projector,
and it would make your nice POV video camera that much bigger.
There may be some consumer super HD video cameras out there
capable of 4 Megapixels, but I doubt they make waterproof cases for them, like the Go Pro, or the Contour. Digital still cameras that shoot
HD video typically shoot it at 1920X1080, but I've never seen good
quality HD video from one.
You could always buy both a vid cam and a stills cam and modify your
mount to hold both (or either)

Why don't you just go to the website??
http://gopro.com/cameras/hd-hero3-black-edition#features
Looks like 12 mega pixels for stills.
