I caught some video of Sean Aiken the other day. The lens fogged a bit so be sure to increase the quality when you watch--it needs some help. I've picked up some anti-fog strips since shooting this so hopefully it won't happen again!

Very cool. Even with the fog, this really shows what it's like on the water. I know because I've chased Sean a lot! The camera being out there at eye level really conveys what it feels like to sail a good day at the Hatchery. Thanks for posting this.

Yes, GoPro Hero2. Set to M (medium) angle in 1080. The trick is to tilt the camera upward much more than the W (wide) setting. Also, YouTube has an anti-shake "Enhancement" that crops the image even more, which improves the typical smaller-than-I-remember problem with wider lenses.
The N (narrow) angle would be even better for realism, but camera shake and keeping the subject centered might be a problem.

It sounds like the menu has changed since the first hero. Mine is 1-5.

Well, he's a good sailor obviously, but so are you. I don't care what tricks you can/can't do, you showed some nice moves there... stalling/slowing down at 1:06 as he did that aerial, and sticking right with him, plus following him on the swell all while keeping the camera on him... nice work! For what its worth, the fog is kind of a neat effect. Some old-school videographers/filmmakers used to put vaseline on the front of the lens (usually a non-colored filter, never directly on the actual lens) to get a similar effect, so just tell people it was intentional!
PS +2 stars for NOT including the wind noise with your video footage... thank you! (future GoPro'ers take note!).

I loved this video and the fog effect is great in my opinion. It really gives a good feel for the river as well, ya know with water in your eyes, etc. Was this from last Sunday, the 26th?
I get stoked when Sean's out there. I tried keeping up with Nathan Mershon the other day at Dougs....fuhgettaboutit!
Thanks for sharing!

@ oriada97215: The day was probably Aug 10, late in the day. Kind of an average windspeed day, but the wind stayed up later--most people were already gone--and the fetch kept the waves going.
