How did Jefferson know?

John F. Kennedy held a dinner in the white House
for a group of the brightest minds in the nation at that time. He made this statement:
"This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence
ever to gather at one time in the White House with
the exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."

When we get piled upon one another
in large cities, as in Europe, we shall
become as corrupt as Europe.
Thomas Jefferson

The democracy will cease to exist
when you take away from those
who are willing to work and give to
those who would not.
Thomas Jefferson

It is incumbent on every generation
to pay its own debts as it goes.
A principle which if acted on would save
one-half the wars of the world.
Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans
if they can prevent the government
from wasting the labors of the people
under the pretense of taking care of them.
Thomas Jefferson

My reading of history convinces me that
most bad government results from too
much government.
Thomas Jefferson

No free man shall ever be debarred
the use of arms.
Thomas Jefferson

The strongest reason for the people to
retain the right to keep and bear arms
is, as a last resort, to protect themselves
against tyranny in government.
Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be refreshed
from time to time with the blood of
patriots and tyrants.
Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with his
taxes the propagation of ideas which he
disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.
Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
'I believe that banking institutions are
more dangerous to our liberties than standing
armies. If the American people ever allow
private banks to control the issue of their
currency, first by inflation, then by deflation,
the banks and corporations that will grow up
around the banks will deprive the people of
all property - until their children wake-up
homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.'

And, unbelievably, Romney and Ryan want to cut taxes further. How is less more? The idea hasn't worked since 2001, yet they still don't seem to get the picture.

Excellent piece of information.

It's obvious that the only way to save this country is to cut taxes, starting with the taxes on the most wealthy. That way, they can have more money.

Then, we should eliminate taxes on the middle and lower classes so they have more to spend.

No IRS -- think of the savings!

Next, we should eliminate Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security (except for Mikey's disability check), Welfare, unemployment insurance, education grants. In fact, maybe we should eliminate school beyond the sixth grade, because it's clear that Americans are dumb as doorknobs -- they believe about stuff like evolution, global warming, and freedom of reproductive rights. No need for that stuff, so no need to teach it. Read the Bible, dump all other books. Expensive libraries would be history.

Finally, we should eliminate ALL government and regulations. Think of how much we'd save with no standards, no rules, no inspectors, no police, no firemen, no judges, no courts, no jails.

And with no unemployment, who cares where all those unemployed government workers go? They're just slackers anyway.

That would be personal responsibility at its best.

(Tongue in cheek for the doorknobs out there.)

Easy. If you let the job creators keep more of their money, they will create more jobs. When more people are working, they pay even more taxes. This is not a zero sum game.

Furthermore, if we had the lowest corporate tax rate, and less manufacturing regulations, we'd also have more jobs, and therefore more taxpayers. Revenue would rise.

ps...it has always worked.

Bard, prove it! The phase "job creators" is simply a BS Republican talking point. You've got nothing that proves that cutting taxes generates more jobs.

One can go back in time and say that Clinton's increase in tax rates created more jobs and more revenue. Are you going to argue that's not fact? Go ahead and try.

Except, for example, in the last 10 years...

Complete bullshit. It has NEVER worked.

That was called "trickle down" by Reagan. But what trickled down wasn't green, it was yellow and liquid. Bush Senior correctly called it "voo-doo economics."

Those so-called "job creators" have more cash than God right now ----- why aren't they creating jobs?

(p.s. -- when I say "more cash than God" I mean it both ways you can interpret it.)

So riddle me this, what do the rich folks do with their extra money that they don't pay in higher taxes?

Then riddle me, what do the extra workers who work for the rich folks and the businesses that cater to the rich folks do with their money, that wouldn't be their money if it went to Washington?

They pay taxes buy stuff that they wouldn't have been able to in the 1st place if the rich folks had less money... right?

Oh, I guess that in a zero sum game, you lefty's would be correct. HOWEVER THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS IN THE REAL WORLD.
