"A few years ago there were often boats pulling wakeboarders in the basin. Could get exciting if several of them showed up for the float-in. Imagine if they added a few jet skis."

What makes you believe that?

It's not, and it isn't. I know because I've ridden my ski in there before, although its been a while.

Yes, "pre-sandbar" (what 7 + years ago) The Basin was frequented by motorized watercraft. Remeber when The Queen of The West would dock there? Smile. Now it's just not practical with shifting sandbar and water levels.

So, the issue today is keeping The Basins waters open to The Public for paddling, swimming, fishing, etc.

Learn more at http://www.publicwaterfront.org

and come to the basin next Saturday September 8th for a “Float-In” to support keeping public water available for us all. Bring a board, boat, intertube and show your love for the basin from 12-2

regarding personal watercraft...ie jetskis and the like

observe Slow-no wake, maximum 5 mph speed limit:

-within 200' of a swimmer, surfer, diving flag, bank or wading angler; dock, swim float, ramp, pier, marina, floating home, or boathouse;
-within 100' of any anchored or non-motorized vessel;
-within 200' of shoreline on all lakes, reservoirs, and bays, "safe" (see page ii) take-off excepted;

http://cms.oregon.gov/OSMB/BoatLaws/pages/regulations.aspx#personal_watercraft_operating_rules

I guess the sheriff would not like seeing someone playing slalom with SUP'ers.
