Hey all, I have a 2007 Starboard Phantom and the part that my mast base screws into on my board broke. Some plastic pieces came off and a metal piece too. Also, the nut that the mast base screws into seems to have ripped out. Luckily, I wasn't too far from shore, so I was able to swim it in!

Does anyone have any advice on what to do? Is this an expensive fix? I've heard of something called a Mistral Slide (like a little brass piece), but I don't know how to install that or whatever.

Thanks. I have attached 3 pictures.

I would try contacting Starboard directly or a SB distributor.
They should have replacement parts and instructions of how to replace it, 2007 is not that old.
It looks like that track is just held in by screws.

You will probably have to replace that moving piece in the track called a bus. I'ld get in touch with the dealer that sold it to you. Worse case scenario would be replacing the whole track and bus. I've done that kind of repair, and it isn't hard.

Ok I got the mast track out and removed the bus. I'm going to see if I can get the nut to fit (and stay) back in the bus. I'm waiting to hear back from Starboard now, and I'll call the dealer I bought it from tomorrow.

Are you racing with that board by the way?

Nah I'm a beginner and I like to just mess around in light winds and occasionally try to plane and stuff (but I only have a 5.7 and I get overpowered easily sometimes).

I got the nut in but I have the same problem that I had before where the mast base just won't get "tight" even though I keep screwing it in. I think because the foam has worn down around it, it just can't get tight or something. Not sure. Anyway, I won't be too surprised if this happens again. If it does, I'll see what starboard has to say.

Could something like this help me? Would it fit in the mast track and stay put...?

No, the slider is for a mast track that isn't like yours. You should fix it right away and not sail until it is done properly. If a screw won't tighten then the threads on the nut have been compromised (stripped in the worse case) and you will pull it out as surely as water is wet.

What am I missing? I think that Chinook part will work, your mast track will no longer be on the fly adjustable but so what.
