Hey all,
Been envious and drooling at all the pictures from everyone having fun on the east coast from the hurricane swell. I'm in VT and seriously thinking about hitting the coast somewhere in N.E. Looking for it to be more mellow if that is possible. The conditions in the pix taken on Cape Cod from the dude losing weight thread are bigger than I would prefer. I have sailed DTL head high in Hatteras at ramp 30 but that's an easy spot. I noticed Josh mentioned that Nahant was smaller so maybe that's the place however I would like it to be DTL conditions. Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Ace |

Nahant makes perfect sense for what you are looking for. The swell may begin to fill in there more as the storms come North.....Everybody's all about Leslie, but Michael hit 140 mph today.Cat 3...so maybe good size in there
Depends how much you want to spend on gas.....Jersey Hatteras are set up....maybe Rye on the Rocks......but Nahant looks to be a good thing for ya ...never sailed there....want to bad There's mysto places in Long Island (and maybe Rhode Island) for NE that can' be talked about, but not so much for a N wind I reckon
Cape Cod will be kind of crum when it goes N wind....with windswell messing the SE swell up...at higher tides the get out much easier then portrayed
Hatteras shorepound can be pretty gnar. Don't know about Ramp 30....but Ego beach earned it's name _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

Thanks Outcast,
I would love to hit the cape as those pix looks so sweet, but if it's similar or bigger I'm not sure I'm willing to pay to play. Hatteras would be ideal but I have too small a window and cost of gas make it prohibitive. I sailed ramp 30 on several occasions with Graham Master Fedd (aka the purple one) this summer. Easiest wavesailing ever. Complete opposite of getting beat down by shore break and when it's on it's fantastic. Definitely check it out next time you are down.
Don't know anything about Rye on the Rocks but I've always heard good stuff about Nahant and you make a convincing argument regarding the northerly track. |
