How about some "dude you missed it" photos?! Way better proof of an epic session, and much more entertaining for those who missed it. I actually thought this thread would be about epic sessions at Rufus back in the day.

The kids nowadays don't even know what you're talking about if you say Nip.

20 years ago someone poked me in the ribs and pointed to John and said he got big air. I've actually only seen him standing around parking lots so I'm taking their word for it.

Take my word for it; Johnny flies ... the obvious focus of my joke. And he's half the size of some guys who use smaller sails. He also has one of the greatest personalities and most permanent big grins you'll find anywhere.

Your first comment applies in spades (OMG; was that racist, too?) to Japanese citizens under about 50. Their school system not only ignores but totally distorts the WW II actions that led to the dark side of the term, "Nip" ... the side with which my comment had zero affiliation.

Not exactly epic today, but decent swell, warm temps, and no crowds.
Wind averaging upper 20's with gusts over 30 on the meters, outflow around 275 KCFS.

Hilton - that's me in the red shirt flying the kite - great pics.
Interesting that the swell was great above Rufus but crap below.
Not sure why - maybe the slight North in the wind direction?

I thought the high current was the reason for the sloppy choppy swell at the Wall yesterday. All the spillways were open on John Day dam. I would have thought the flow was way more than 275 kcfs.

Wasn't it southerly? The directions were pretty consistently 250 at Maryhill and 235 at the Wall sensor, with a consistent large wind shadow by the OR shore.

Looking for a Gorge seasoned windsurfer to post up with a legitimate "Dude you missed it" for Rufus swell. I'm talking big and smooth at 27ish mph. I'm not talking about the flat mess that I've seen this month. It's 26 there out of SW now, but the last three times I've been recently swell was much better elsewhere

Thx
Eric

Eric,
I am not into taking photos, etc. But I think yesterday afternoon at Rufus qualified. Big smooth water and half-pipes all the way across the river, 3.7 to 4.2, depending on weight, volume, etc.. The session ended about 6:30pm. You can look up the details. Hopefully this is helpful.
