Another Awesome afternoon of windsurfing at Sherman Island.
I often enter the water with trepidation. I have never broken any bones windsurfing but I have sprained joints, broke my eardrum, suffered numerous bruises and contusions, got whiplash and and have been punctured by sea urchin spines. Windsurfing can be dangerous.
In spite of the danger, or maybe because of it, I can't resist the strong wind and big waves. What is the attraction of seeking glory?
Today was glorious.
The wind averaged in the 20s. Air temp in the 70s. The wind angle made it possible to sail straight into the flooding tide. Some of the swell jacked up into waves perfect for jumping. I made every one of my turns except two. I successfully accomplished a "reverse clew resurrection".
I skipped across the waves with nothing on my mind but the sheer joy of harnessing the wind for pleasure.
No injury today but I will feel the pain tomorrow.

Yes It was a great day! I believe you were parked next to me. You told me about the broken eardrum. Although I didn't sail as long as you, I feel your pain brother! It's a good kinda hurt!

Still, windsurfing is one of the SAFEST sports ever, one that still instills some adrenaline rush, anyways.
Consider...the sports I've tried a bit... surfing, including Pipe and Sunset, OceanBeachSF. Roadracing, 250 production one year, then GP the next.
Skiing, motocross, waterski jumping, kiteboarding (over 70 died in 2001), snowboarding.
But is bicycle training on the road close to one of the more dangerous?
