I was a bootie guy until I lost them a couple weeks ago, now I dont miss them one bit Very Happy I wear sandals in for the rocks, and loop the little bungie for wraping the sail through them and they just hangout on the foot of the sail until im ready to climb out

Like underwear beneath your wetsuit, boardshorts over your wetsuit, and body armor, booties are a personal call, it's a free country. Wear what you want. Without 'em, tender city feet will prohibit some of the rockier launches.

I'm a bootie guy here, and a barefoot guy on Maui.
There's some meaning there.

I'm just the opposite, due to the reefs.

The reef and sea urchins have made many barefoot guys go to booties in Maui.

Depends on the launch, the bottom, the water and air temps, and whether I feel like changing the size of my footstraps.
Tropics, usually booties for urchin and cut prevention.
Try sailing early spring Waddell barefeet.

Booties keep the sandpaper like deck on my board from exposing raw flesh on my ankles when I put my foot up to waterstart.

I always wear those climbing shoes with the individule toes. They are way better than booties and you can barely tell they are on. Such a wonderful feeling. Super grip stick too. I've tried cowboy boots for the ankle support but find that they don't have the best traction when they get wet.

Those guys are falling in wrong and too much ;*)

p.s. I've put urchin spines through rubber flippers, so don't count on
booties saving you.
