Anything to watch out for / areas to avoid at Haskins, particularly sailing barefoot?

How about the water?

Most of the shopping carts have been retrieved by the sailors that frequent that place.

Broken Glass or Left Over Rusty Metal Trash.
Do you have your Tetanus shot updated?

Seriously, wear booties at these type of spots or deal with the reality of stepping on something that will ruin your day. ;-(

The offshore wind is the real killer there.
Make sure you can make it back up wind to the launch...

The boys seem to keep that place pretty clean and pull out the big stuff but on the far side just upwind of the tanks there is a lot of crap in the water. You will want to sail it when there is water. Low tide sucks.

Haskins launch always had tons of debris, from bottles to shopping carts, even in the mid 80's. Lots of beer drinking, motorcycle riders, low riders, guys who hang out at night frequent that location. The sand lot at the street used to invite parties all night, on warm evenings.
Try to check the bottom at low tide before heading out, as new garbage finds it's way there at night.
Usually a minimum of 3' of tide is needed to sail there.

Shopping carts at Haskins are gone!

The tire is still there and as mentioned booties are recommended.
