This very brief satellite video I annotated shows the cause of the weird weather today over the Gorge. And if you have ever wondered about those upper troughs forecasters are always mumbling about you can actually see one in this video.
This video shows the upper trough at about 18K feet south of the San Francisco and heading towards Southern California. Notice how the wind flow starts NW and turns NW.
This puppy was over the Gorge the last several days jazzing up the surface winds that filled your kites and sails.
Also notice the counter-clockwise spinning Cut-Off Low at around 18K feet that moves almost over the Gorge. Watch this Cut-Off Low sweep up rain, thunder and lightening from Southern California and sweep it over the Gorge mid day today.
ok weather geeks...should be windy sunday, not some fluky crap like saturday. good to see George your still forecasting even if its unofficial (miss your imput) at least your not an east coasty doing da gorge.
