Hi, I don't know if anybody else here purchased one of the Shadowbox Ride Tracker devices. I did. But didn't try to use it until yesterday.

I am trying to download the data onto my computer, but the computer (running XP) does not recognize the shadowbox. It says it ness an FT 232R USB UART driver.

Can anyone out there help me?

thanks.

ps, the shadowboxlive company website appears to no longer exist.

A Google search for "FT232R USB UART driver" will get you what you want. Wink

But FYI, this just means they use the FT232R chip from FTDI inside the Shadowbox to do their USB interface, so you need the Windows driver for that chip. You can download the driver from the FT232R webpage, which is the first hit from the above Google search.

Good luck, have fun, sail fast. Cool

Thanks, I've done that. It didn't work.

btw, I don't know if you have any experience with this device, but you can view max. measurements on the device itself. It said that my max. speed windsurfing was 110 mph!! I hope I didn't waste 500 bucks on this thing.

Apparently they are now out of business, so perhaps it was a waste of money.

On the bright side, you've blown away the sailing speed record. Shocked You might try contacting Casey Hauser thru Facebook.

Hey Dennis!

Drop me an email at caseyhauserus634@gmail.com and I'd be happy to give you a copy of RideTracker, the software you'll need to view your ride files from your ShadowBox.

Though the device is incredibly accurate, the sensors can sometimes saturate, in which case you could get false speed recordings or jump heights. Though you can't necessarily see this just from the stats playback on the ShadowBox itself, the error is blatantly obvious in RideTracker via the 3D playback visualizer, allowing you to discard it and find your true fastest speed and biggest boost.

When it comes to jumps however, you'll notice that directly on the box you can select any of your jumps from a ride for 3D playback. You can tilt the box to adjust your view, and easily see a jump that looks normal and is accurate versus what we referred to as a rogue jump. A rogue jump can occur after a very flat landed jump, where the sensors in essence ricochet from the harsh landing impact. In this case, a true jump could be followed by what looks like a jump where you kind of float off into space for a second, then back down to the baseline. Again, very easy to differentiate and rule out, the pathway looks nothing like what we really do, leaving you with only your true jumps and real stats.

Hope this helps, and please email me so I can hook you up with the software so you can enjoy your ShadowBox!

Casey
