You know the fact that kitesurfing is becoming mainstream is good news for windsurfing as far as picking up some new younger blood. Now that every fat old guy is taking kiting up , it is quickly losing its image of coolness.

I had these comments echoed to me by some kiters on a trip to Europe recently ( where I saw a lot of windsurfing) . The windsurfers are now the youthful edgy crew that look down with disdain on the middle-aged kiters.

If EVERYONE would make life's choices based on reality and merit rather than on what's kewel at the moment, the whole world would be a better place. I still have a very hard time understanding why anyone over about 6 years old gives a crap what's/who's "kewel"; it's SO freaking shallow! It costs most people thousands (clothes and accessories to cars) to hundreds of thousands (fancy homes) of dollars they don't have, and it could cost us our nation in November.

Hey iso
Thanks for another on-topic, lucid, and thought provoking comment.
Now please go fuck yourself you annoying piece of shit.
Am I alone in this?

No. We all see people -- often self-described "cool peeps" -- everywhere all day who value image over substance, substitute venom for rational argument, and hide behind internet nyms. They're why normal people wear hip boots online.

Save us some time. Were the other 22 of your posts as intelligent and thought provoking as this one?

Yeah. You are alone on this.

Shame on you for using the internet's veil of anonymity to vent you anger. You trashed this thread and embarrassed yourself.

ISO's logic escapes many of us at times - including me. But he is a man and entitled to his views. I'll stand behind him any day when it comes to defending against a pitiful attack such as yours.

I windsurf with kiters all the time at Waddell. I've talk with a few of them and it has always been good and friendly. They have moved their kite lines up for me to pass and veered off when our approaches were too close. Once I jybed in front of one and got yelled at, but hey, I deserved it and it was just a loud "Hey" no obscenities involved. They have a smaller presence on the water and are harder to spot, so we need to take an extra look for them. Sure I like it better when they're not around, but I also like to see people expressing their freedom on the water.
