I empathize with this guy; I have my own problems finding the right word. (There's a very short commercial but it's worth it.)

That video made me spit my beer out. Freaking hilarious!!!! A windsurfer with a para something. I live in sac and that pretty much sums up our local news quality.

LOL> Apparently our sport and para-whadyacallit suffer from the same lack of recognition from the general public.

I feel a little bit guilty having a laugh at this fellow's expense. Unlike probably 90% of reporters--maybe fewer in the SF market--he actually knows that it isn't really a windsurfer (or boardsailor or sailboarder.) It's a kiteboarder or kitesurfer or, at my usual launch, water hazard.

I'm hoping to go para-whadyacalliting this afternoon. But I plan to add a pole to the wind catching thingy.

According to the occasional eBay ad, you will also need a handle and rudder.

I wonder if he really was in trouble? He had a wetsuit on.
Over reacting yokels who've never seen a kite before?
How could he be "going under" when he had a vest and wetsuit?

Well it is an ABC affiliate, part of our brilliant main stream media, so I'm not surprised. But I was surprised that he didn't say that he was rescued just before the sharks got to him.
