Ha Ha Boggs and Pueno, I do enjoy Savage, however, respect for the natural beauty and environment is one thing. Using it and healthcare as a pretense for taking away personal responsibility and initiative is another.
Mac, very little is understood about the origin of the universe, or the cosmos. They can't even cure your hemeroids Mac. How can science explain anything about the mechanics of the universe? |

And that's the wonder and beauty of science. If we had nothing left to study and discover, then life would be dull and boring. Those who are dull and bored sit around reading -- some read the Bible, others read Superman comics.
But fortunately, we have meaningful problems to solve and interesting puzzles to study.
It's so much better to be learning stuff from science than memorizing fairy tales from an ancient book.
So, tell me, Bard, what are the four basic forces of nature? And what do we know about them? (Hint: Guilt, sex, and mothers-in-law are not on the list.) |

The strong interaction is very strong, but very short-ranged. It acts only over ranges of order 10-13 centimeters and is responsible for holding the nuclei of atoms together. It is basically attractive, but can be effectively repulsive in some circumstances.
The electromagnetic force causes electric and magnetic effects such as the repulsion between like electrical charges or the interaction of bar magnets. It is long-ranged, but much weaker than the strong force. It can be attractive or repulsive, and acts only between pieces of matter carrying electrical charge.
The weak force is responsible for radioactive decay and neutrino interactions. It has a very short range and, as its name indicates, it is very weak.
The gravitational force is weak, but very long ranged. Furthermore, it is always attractive, and acts between any two pieces of matter in the Universe since mass is its source.

It just underscores my point --- lots of talk with zero knowledge, zero substance. His are like talking points that he scrounged from somewhere.
Perhaps Mr. Bard could research the Bible. Supposedly, it has all the answers....
I'm sure the Higgs boson is mentioned somewhere in Deuteronomy, although they called that particle the Moses boson because it had non-symmetrical wave properties. |
