Just thought I'd ask if anyone had contacted Iwindsurf about the Tomales wind sensor? I sent an email with out a reply and was just wondering if anyone else misses the sensor? Hoping for wnw wind soon.

Hi BlueHawaiins,
I place a posting on another Tomales forum thread about 2 weeks ago. We checked out our sensor and found that is was OK. The issue is with the phone lines in this isolate area. We are waiting for PacBell to fix the issue.
Below are some of my photos of the Tomales area. The first shows the Grassy Point launch. The third is an aerial photo where you can see Grassy Point in the distant and the wonderful Dillon beach bar break in the foreground. Great windsurfing there. Can you figure out where I took the 2nd photo?

Gotta be one of the beaches across from Grassy Pt. Looks like Hog Island in the distance.

Hey Mike Thanks for the reply, glad to hear it's just a phone line. I would have to say Tomales beach where the camp ground is across from grassy point and now they have permanent bathrooms the sign say's from our stimulus money last year.
Thanks again Bluehawiin's

Yea, you both got it right. The 2nd photo shows that beautiful beach and cove on the wilderness west side of Tomales Bay opposite Grassy Pt. We used to illegally camp over there miles from the nearest road with only elk for company. Then windsurf the next day to Grassy Point and back.
There is a similar sneaky camp and windsurf place across from Dillon Beach but elk can be an issue on the beach there.
And actually there is a place you can legally camp with no cars within a mile and launch from the beach and sail below the Golden Gate.
You need the right wind and tide conditions to make it off the beach though.

Yeah, I almost got stranded there one late afternoon in January. I was with my son (14 years old) and his friend at Stintson Beach. On the way home the wind looked good, I had gear so we drove up to Grassy Pt. It was 5.0 when I got there. Some guys had a bonfire on the beach. I rigged up for a short sail - it was about 4:00. In retrospect, it was a stupid idea, looking at the graph the next day, it was a typical "middle finger" graph. When I got to the other side, there was no wind. Not even enough to sail back if I uphauled. So I broke down the rig to stash it. I still hadn't decided whether to paddle back or walk out. Then I saw the fishing boat coming from Inverness. I waded as far out as I could and gave them the universal distress arm wave. They were kind enough to shuttle me and my gear back to Grassy Pt. By then it was almost dark.

Any update on this? It's the 27th and Pac Bell was supposed to have it fixed by the 25th. Time's running out on spring (weedless) winds!

Can't. Giants Game tonight. I should have anticipated this before I accepted those free Lower Box tickets :/
Maybe tomorrow though.
