Mistral Stinger, 8’6”, Buoyancy 176 lbs – new condition, used twice, includes cover.
· Comes with deluxe boot w/ straps;
· Simmer Style SuperLite wave sail, 4.0 sq. m.;
· Sails East Aerotech wave sail, 4.5 sq. m.
24 years old but in storage for the last 20 years, since moving to Alaska. Now I need to sell and have no idea what it's worth.
Thanks,
George

I don't think this is what you would like to hear- but it is basically worth zip.. especially the sails- the board you might be able to give away for someone's kids to fart around on the water... but truth is- it's not worth what it'll cost to drop off at the landfill.

If that's a German Ergo boom, it's worth $50.
Sails zero, as said.
Board maybe 50 bucks for someone who treasures the late '80's.

Gd is right, the stuff depreciates fast due to rapid advancements in newer
designs. You might get lucky and get $50 for the board and bag. Probably not worth shipping. Any local windsurfers in AK? I'm guessing not too many, seeing all that white stuff in the pict!

Thanks for the fast responses everyone. I'm not really surprised that the equipment is not worth much.
Actually some people do windsurf here in Turnagain Arm, near Anchorage, once the ice breaks up, but I have not tried it.

well the sails would be ok for landsailing, a couple of sails i use for skatesailing, and icesailing are from the 80s, id give you something, not much though, but i know the shipping from alaska makes it not worthwhile.

You might be able to e-bay that stuff... particularly the board. Pain the butt to ship... the guys are right... pretty much worthless for someone wanting to get into the sport, but there are plenty of aging windsurfers that would remember that board, and the fact that is so pristine really could work for you. I know there are some people out there that are really into vintage gear as collectibles.
Be really careful if you're thinking of heading out to Turnagain Arm... you have a pretty definite risk of loss of life if you suffer a break down out there!

Stingers were cool and only about 20 years old. I'd sail one today if I had one. $75 to Zero. Sails $0.

Original Stinger came out maybe '87, a year after the first Screamer, which followed the channel railed DiamondHead, which followed the V bottom DiamondHead.
Mistral made them thru the early '90's, using the older construction, and dropping the price until the $750 was reached.

I had an earlier version of the Stinger that included the older adjustable mastrack design. It was a great board for the time, and it could handle a lot of wind for its size. The one you've got is a later version. One in virtually new condition just might catch the attention of someone that loved the board and wants to get another one. Unfortunately though, the sale price is going to be predictably low.
