Alaska is $50 bucks but Hawaiian and most other airlines is $100+. Scott is correct on the storage - American Storage will make a deal with you and if you can go in with a partner - it is super cheap. Before we moved to Maui, I use to share a locker with 4 peeps at American and it only cost us $12 each a month. We each had 3 sails, 2 masts, 1-2 boards, surfboards, and a whole lot of extra crap and everything fit perfectly in the locker. The nice thing is too that you have storage if you need it while you are on the Rock. So if you want to take a road trip to Hana you can toss your gear in the locker. If I had a big enough property, I would just make storage lockers and charge a few bucks and quit my day job. haa haa Seriously - soo many windsurfers for all other the world looking for storage on Maui. |

Update...
I did it. And thanks to Old Grommet, I ended up with a really nice board for the conditions, for the whole 2 weeks.
It cost me $50 each way with Westjet. I brought down 2 sails masts 1 set booms and base, and came back with another sail and board I bought while I was there.
I'd do it again in a heartbeat. And I probably wouldn't have gone out at Hookipa had I rented.
Cheers,
Chris |
