Short answer: no downloading, no point in getting the Bluetooth unit.
Long answer:
I tried for a few hours, but never figured out how to download data via Bluetooth. I was able to use Bluetooth with a smart phone and waterproof headset to hear the speed that the GPS measured while sailing. But you can do the same without the BGT-31, so the only thing you might gain is a bit of accuracy. Even that is questionable, since you hear the location-based speed, not the doppler speed (afaik). Note that if you update the software on the BGT-31 to a newer version, you loose the Bluetooth functionality, and can't get it back!
Regarding downloading: one nice thing about the GT-31 is that it takes a 2 GB SD card, so getting the data onto your computer is easier than if you have to use a cable and software. Plus you can simply keep all your tracks on the card, it holds at least several years of data. |
