Sent you a pm, looks like it didn't go through.
Anyway, I think you'll be happy with the 115, I sure am.

One suggestion, since you appear to favor (as I do) an outboard footstrap position. For the back footstraps, I use four screws on each strap instead of two (i.e., two screws on each side of each strap). The hole spacing allows you to do that, making the connection to the board twice as strong and preventing the straps from ever twisting. You'll lose a cm or two in outboard placement, but I find that the position is about perfect. As long as the straps are not too loose, my heel and arch can catch the radius of the rail.

Anyway, please let us know how she rides.

Thanks everybody for the input. I went with a 2010 Tabou Rocket 115 in the GT construction, largely because I found a screamin' good closeout deal on it.
As I learned as a ski professional, the free skis see the most use.

The same with the free blogs.

Except for yours (all four of them).

Wait....... you were a professional?

Well, "professionalism" must be like beauty -- it's in the eyes of the beholder, particularly the one looking in the mirror.

Grayson , I have a 115, and 95 rocket, My favorite boards ever, they are very user friendly, but still very fast, I never feel out of control on my rockets, even in voodoo chop. I think you will be very happy! good luck.

What is it about the hull design of the Tabou rocket that makes it handle voodoo chop well?

Deep double concaves aft of the mast base. Comes at the price of not pumping to plane early with barely enough sail. If one sails in a very windy spot, or sails with lots of extra sail size, no big deal. If one tries to get away with as little sail as possible and is willing to pump to plane, it is not the first choice. It's all in what a sailor wants to do. There's plenty of variety. I put early planing first, with turning and smoothness lit up as a tie for second.

Narrows the field for me pretty quickly. Although, if I'm able to borrow a go fast board for the day, I'd like a course slalom board with lots of liveliness like most in the middle sized fleet in the most recent board test. The F2 would be the only exception, since it was clearly more of a free ride. Nearly any of those would be a great "go fast" board in flat water, but I don't have the space or resources for so many specialist boards.

So many good boards for lots of different styles of sailing.

Thanks for the explanation. I think my knees would appreciate this board.

That's the reason Brian at Open Ocean brought back his Slot bottom. He said the feed back he was getting back from us "experienced" sailors that have had their knees beat up over the years was that they'd give up a percent or 2 of early planing for a smoother ride. I wish I could say for certain that I found this to be true but I've only sailed it once since the freekin end of October! Good God what a long winter its been..... Crying or Very sad

Those Open Ocean boards sure have a lot of rocker to them. Aren't they wave boards?

Brian's boards are custom made to the customers wishes. He will make a wave board for you, if that is what you wish, but he is best known around here, (the gorge), by his excellent bump and jump gorge boards, which have a different rocker than a wave board.
