So, being new to Boston... how do I interpret all these colours I don't normally see on the wind forecast?
Should I be buying a 3.5?
Wooop!

Jay
I do not know how big you are.
You can not really rig for the gusts here.
Based on the charts and if there were really
Sat looks like 4.2 weather for me
Sunday 4.7.
I think the last time I used the 3.7m sail was 2 years ago.
I am 160 lbs

OK technically, Kalmus is not located in Boston. Wishful thinking!

True enough, I'm from the "tall & lanky" breed of windsurfer @ 6'1 n' 165lbs.
Generally prefer to sail slightly underpowered than being overpowered (high-boom-long-lines). Sounds like it'll be an awesome weekend if I stay closer to Boston. I'll likely be overpowered down on the cape (4.0 is my smallest right now).
Still getting used to interpreting the GFS for Boston.
Where I used to sail (Vancouver), if it showed NW clocking W 15 gusting 20... you could expect 20-40. SW winds on the GFS was more WYSIWYG.
evans... you're a machine.
Over-powered 3.7 with near freezing water. Scares me just as much as sharks (which I feel doesn't hold you back either!)

Do not worry Jayturcot, it will warm up soon, and Kalmus will be rockin, and other cape spots, The sailing on the cape is world class, does not get the respect it deserves, hope to see you out there soon.
Duxbury is a good spot , usually not as windy as cape, and shorter drive.
