Apparently most WSers not using a waist harness, including myself, prefer the XTSeat. But I'm really getting tired of its elastic inner Power Belt's impact on breathing; it's really restrictive when the going gets tough.

What other harness provides the XTSeat's level of all-day, full butt-to-shoulder blades support without leaving us heaving for air when we're workin' it out there? It's a frequent and time-consuming nuisance to have to jump in the water and undo the Power Belt -- after unhooking one end of my harness bar to get at the PB -- to find some air, and it's a major PITA to reassemble it all when I get my breath back.

Hey Iso; I have looked and looked for good waist harnesses, tried on many, bought lots that I never used. I much prefer a small lightweight one that HOLDS THE HOOK DOWN! I am currently using one of the Prydes from Adventuresports Miami; http://www.adventuresportsmiami.com/main/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=88&keyword=&manufacturer_id=0&Itemid=53&orderby=product_name&limitstart=40

Hope that helps.

If there's one thing that's really missing in most brand marketing promotion and retail based advertising photos of harnesses, it's the fact that there's usually only one photo of the product, and it's almost always depicting the harness from a back or back/side view. Why is that? Seems a bit short sided to me.

I've never met a seat/race harness I like for B&J and wannabe/imitation wave sailing; the hook and support are too low for highly dynamic maneuvering all day. The primary support from the XTSeat is at waist/lumbar (small-of-the-back) height; the harness butt is there just to keep the harness from riding up.

This is not meant to be a snarky response, if it happens to read that way:

Why not just wear the harness a tiny bit looser, or maybe try a size larger? I've been using my harness a touch looser than usual lately, and it really doesn't seem to affect performance very much, if at all. Most of the support from Dakine's harnesses comes from all of that beautiful padding/molding/shaping in the lumbar area, as well as the interior stuff that you can't even see. It seems to me that the power belt is just there to keep it from falling off when you unhook or go for a swim. COMFORTABLY snug seems to be the rule of fit, to me at least.

Or maybe you're cinching down the spreader bar too tight? The power belt is made with elastic, so it should have a reasonable amount of give to it.
