If it helps the OBAMA economy get moving, no problem.

I would rather own that, than the healthcare bill jammed down our throats. Maybe someday we will finish reading it,

That makes no sense to me. "It" has been the status quo for many years. That money has done nothing to "get the economy moving."

C-Span Mic Catches Senator Unaware: ‘It’s All Rigged’Posted by AmandaPelliciari on December 1, 2010

It is always a good idea to know when your mic is on, especially if the event is televised. However, Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) wasn’t caught saying anything he hasn’t already said to his Colorado citizens. It’s too bad that a faulty audio situation is what gets your voice heard on the Senate floor. From The Raw Story:

Is the US Senate “rigged”? It may be, at least according to one Democrat whose words of candor were picked up by a hot microphone on the Senate floor, the audio of which was broadcast live by C-Span 2 on Tuesday afternoon.

“Because — because … It’s all rigged,” Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) said, speaking to a female colleague as fellow Senators voted. “I mean, the whole conversation is rigged,” he went on. “The fact that we don’t get to a discussion before the break about what we’re going to do in the lame duck, is just rigged. This stuff’s rigged.”

Hey, here's a hint: The people showing over $250k on their tax return are not buying machines, hiring or doing much spending at all. They haven't done it in the last 10 years, they won't do it now. If you want to do something that really helps people hire, raise taxes back to where they were and use the money to subsidize payroll overhead.

Food stamps .. poor are hungrier than ever.

Yeah, but the government goes way overboard on that issue. I've seen people use food stamps for food as they're whipping out cash for TIVO accessories, years before I was willing to pay for TIVO. That's wrong!

It was reported a couple of years ago that a common scam is to buy carts of pop on food stamps, pour it down the drains in the parking lot, get cash for the empties, then walk back inside and buy cigarettes with the money.

The poll question which determined that "X% of U.S. kids are going hungry" was: "Do your children ever say, "I'm hungry"?" In case that zinged right over You People's heads, who ISN'T hungry several times every day? I sure as hell am.

It's against the Constitution -- the LAW -- for the government to feed people who could feed themselves, especially with money taken from others under the guise of desperation. Yet we see it in food stamps, school lunch programs, welfare in general. Out of work? Get a damned job. Look at this graph from Denmark's unemployment benefits history (for the people too lazy to even click for their supper, it clearly shows that people find jobs when and only when the government stops paying them not to work):

Identify and feed the small percent who would literally go very hungry because they are incapacitated, and kick the moochers with cell phones and cigarettes and cable TV off the damned dole so they have a reason and motive for finding work.

I DID have a job. But, even an 8 year old can't make enough money delivering papers for a penny each to pay for his school lunch.

IT IS NOT THE CHILD'S RESPONSIBILITY

From Feeding America.org...

"November 15, 2010

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service (USDA) reported today that more than 50 million Americans, including more than 17 million children, are food insecure – meaning they lack consistent access to a nutritious, well-balanced diet. The findings are based on data collected by the government in December, 2009."

For a guy who was a rocket scientist Mikes math skills are sketchy at best.

Matt, what new money are you suggesting will be available that wasn't already available since the two Bush tax cuts went into effect?

I really think you are missing the point. If the Republicans are able to renew the discounted tax rate above $250,000, not a dime of new money will be available for all the stimulative programs you suggest that wasn't already available since the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts.

If all the Bush tax cuts were allowed to naturally lapse this year, we would go back to the tax rates of the 1990s. If any of the Bush tax cuts are renewed, that only keeps in place the status quo. Again, no new money into the economy -just the same thing since 2001/03.

If the top tier earners aren't investing enough now, why would keeping things the same change their behavior? It makes absolutely no sense.

It makes complete sense. If you are under threat of having a pay cut, you are likely to reduce your expenditures. If you subsequently find out your pay will not be cut, you are more likely to open the purse strings again. What makes absolutely no sense is individuals and businesses not knowing what their tax rates will be in 27 days. Huge uncertainty created by a bunch of incompetents.
