Iso's post idiotic, why? There shouldn't be metrics to measure, assure performance?

Pot smoker handled haz mat forever, ya so? The point is? Good, bad?

I did not make any statement as to good or bad.
The fact I presented is 100% true and that is all.
That entire assessment of good and bad was done by you and assigned to me.
I don't like being labeled like that. You have said that such labeling is done only by the left, while you are doing it to me.
There are no opinions of mine expressed here.
Every bit of it came from your mind alone.

If an employee working Monday through Friday smokes some weed on Friday night after work, is that worse than the same employee getting drunk on Friday night?

If there was a test that could detect alcohol a few days after consumption, would that be cause to fire the employee who consumed alcohol on the weekend who shows up on Monday sober? How 'bout the pot smoker who shows up for work on Friday sober?

KC,
I asked questions, not even close to be on the same scale as "do you still beat your wife" questions testing the reason for your comment which I couldn't see the point in making. I didn't refer to you or call you some distasteful term either.
YW,
That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about being intoxicated on the job, and some drugs will affect you even after there initial high has worn off. You want cocaine or heroin users doing surgery, or other important / dangerous tasks even after they're so called "sober"? Do you want them cutting into profits?
I've exercised the right to refuse work when I was partnered with an intoxicated person on the job, and in a union environment, and the shop steward gave ME a hard time. Now THAT was an interesting day not soon to be forgotten. Apparently I was insensitive to his alcoholism....while working in an explosive atmosphere.

Living here in the most liberal state must be affecting my standards for good behavior. Working at a high school where we teach respect is a part of that, I guess.
Liberals here have the endearing habit of posting things like
Sorry KC for implying a lot of stuff about your post and beliefs that had nothing to do with you. It was just something bugging me and I shouldn't have put it on you."

RR--someone weaving on the road--probably cause--but they could also be texting. Someone falling asleep on the job and smelling of alcohol (something I have had to deal with)--probably cause. Someone applying for welfare. Not probable cause.

Are we clear now? I noticed that all of the so-called libertarian busy bodies except you ignored the Bill of Rights. They aren't remotely libertarians--or strict constructionists.

Oh I'm clear and not swayed. Welfare recipients are the least of my worries.

Along with the eight hours per day of productivity we sell to an employer, we also voluntarily sell our Constitutional rights to violate his trust and his legal rules. I've seen some very high-level government employees (6-figure salaries) lose their careers because they looked at porn for just minutes on the job. A marijuana flake in a soldier's car and the car becomes the permanent property of the U.S. government. Speak up at a political rally, and a government employee is fresh out of work. Show up hung over? Court martial. Why should any of that -- except maybe the political commentary gag order -- be different in a corporation if it diminishes the productivity the employee sold the company? Ditto a bank loan, or an insurance policy, or a puppy or horse, or a daughter, or even a good book. No obvious bad risk is getting any of those from me.

Has anyone EVER returned a book he borrowed from you?

Individually, yes. But now that about half the U.S. population qualifies for it, it's collectively a HUGE problem, one the country may not recover from until another Bill Clinton or a Republican comes along to reverse our untimely slide towards socialism just as most of the world is seeing it for the failure it is and trying to emerge from it.
