I might grant an exception in the case of the military, maybe. I think corruption is less likely in that arm of government service than in the private sector, and am quite certain that their spirit and dedication would not be the same if they were working for Guns'R'Us rather than the United States of America. OTOH, I am certain we'd win more wars if the Congress and administrations weren't running them so directly. "Here's 4% of our GNP, Guns'R'Us. Keep us safe, within this general set of objectives and guidelines. We'll have 1,000 veterans monitoring you, and your contract will be up for competition every couple of years, just like our national research labs are now. Hoo-Raa!"
