I didn't vote for O but I remember what a mess we were in. I have listened to folks in our party tell us all about how bad it all got since then.
Looks a good bit better than then is all I see. I took the advice of fools and didn't buy stocks in the first part of his term because it was all going to collapse. If those know nothings had learned something and said sorry we will do better next time then I might have continued to listen.
Instead the same voices are saying "See.We told you it would all collapse while in the real world the stock market did fine.
This has been a problem on the right since Gingrich. The leadership is not operating out of the real world. They live in an artificial world built by lobbyists and pollsters. The Fox Pundits are paid to read scripts that keep the blue collar GOP confused and afraid. I read lately that about 1/3 of Americans now believe O is a Muslim. That is a triumph for right wing BS and shows you how pervasive it is. Those who convinced good folks of that, knowing it isn't true, may soon decide to have every listener walk off a cliff.
Here. Drink this!!

KC, it is a good bit better. In the Bay Area, CRM just bought 14 acres in SF, to put up 2Million sq feet of space. Twitter , and Facebook are hiring like CRAZY. Google is giving all 23000 employees a 10% raise next year. Tesla is defying the pundits and signing deals. The economy for well educated, ambitious, self starters , is excellent. The economy for uneducated, skillless workers is terrible because we've outsourced the jobs, or the've been lost due to construction collapsing. The roads are packed, malls are buzzing, and the drinks are fllowing. And I gotta say, Im feeling more Rethug everyday Twisted Evil

We are also seeing economic rebound in the Colo. construction industry. Stimulus has actually helped a bunch. Local governments are spending on facilities. I took some time for the funds to trickle down.

Big problem I see is that the state budgets are in real trouble. Once the stimulus money is gone, I foresee program cuts, which will result in public sector unemployment.

BTW, the states fiscal problems have NOTHING to do with Obama. The seeds for these problems were sown at home!

ALmost none of the current problems in this country have anything to do with Obama. The USA is a giant freighter, and anything meaningful- positive or negative, takes a long time to set in. If the positive developments in the Bay Area translate to tax receipts, then the budget hole will fill quicker than anticipated. The good news is that budget prognosticators are very negative, just as they were very positive in 2006-7, when they were rearranging the deck chairs.

I hope that's true.

It does seem like negativity is in full swing right now!

No, but his party's far left, Marxist, welfare state paradigms contributed a LOT to it, and their eagerness to take money from successful states, corporations, and individuals to bail out failing states violates every principal of economics, feedback control systems, common sense, capitalism, world history, and justice I can think of.

If he writes Marxist one more time, I am going to plonk him, I swear.
I can't handle it.

That's just days after admitting here, that he just doesn't quite know what socialism really is, and (in a thread titled socialism) wrote:

what has this thread to do with understanding socialism?

The "failing states" (as far as current fiscal problems), such as Colorado, GIVE more to the Federal Government than they get back. I have documented this on previous posts using a site YOU provided.

The history Colorado's fiscal problems is rooted in poor choices in dealing with benefit packages and pension plans for state employees. Both parties are complicit in this.

As far as Democrats vs Republicans in the success of fiscal responsiblilty, I don't see much difference. Democratic Presidents, by and large, have been more successful in reducing net debt, reducing size of government and reducing unemployment.

If we continue to blame current administrations for failings of past administrations, nothing will be accomplished.

I would be very interested in what constitutes a successful state? "Vermin Free"?
