I need to replace the footstrap inserts of my board and I'm not sure what would be the best way to replace them. I saw that chinook has different types of footstrap inserts for sale yet there are three types including a 1 hole insert, 3 holes and 5 holes. If I extract the inserts on my board, how can I install the new footstrap inserts.

I have G/Flex Epoxy from West System. Would anybody know what is the best way to re-install footstrap inserts?

Thanks!

Are you sure they need replacing? There are several fixes for common problems.

Boardlady is excellent info.
Heres how our shop does it. If you do this correctly you will damage the surface finish around the insert
Use the 3 or 5 whichever fits the hole. Take the old ones out with a chisel or a small plunge router bit.Chisel marks will be fixed- no worry.
Make enough space in the hole for the new insert and three layers of cloth (not mat) wrapped around it.Soak the cloth sections in resin and mix the rest of the resin with microballoons, filler, or talcum powder to gravy and coat the inside of the hole with the mix. Push in the inserts so they are slightly proud and weigh them down. Tape down the cloth with sail tape or a piece of old sail mono overlapping an ins of cloth on the surface or more.
Chase out the resin under the tape and make all lay flat.Don't sand this very much after or you will cut across the fibers and regret it when it leaks or comes out. Fill with body putty if needed afterwards.
We get the tape right so no sanding or putty is needed.
Job takes an hour for both rears.
