Gregor love the photos. If you haven't seen it, check out Conan on a shopping spree in Southcentral. Can't find the full length versuon , it's much better, but check out the condensed one; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wM_vd_TTTso

Thanks all,

Maui and Baja all seemed to have too much swell in the winter, and she is really quite new to this... i can have a ton of fun as long as there is wind at some point.... i can live without the waves to get her really into windsurfing Smile

Sounds like Bonaire is the ticket... now who to book with and where to stay ??

Yeah, Check with Ann Phelan. No point in booking with anyone else if you go there. Tell her I referred you (Steve Elliott) and maybe she'll discount my next trip Smile Smile Smile Actually we're going in March, booked through her and received a nice discount as a return visitor. I've been there twice already. You'll love it. Her contact info is ann[at sign]bonairecaribbean[dot]com. She lives on the island.

South EAST Baja, not much of a swell ever, compared to the west side. And if there is a somewhat of a swell while you are there, there is always places (the backside of points, or coves) that you can sail at in relatively flat water.
South east Baja is not known for it's swell, just it's wind and tequilla.
Good combo though.

Do they have rentals and which resorts are there?

In Baja, the wind and swell comes up in the afternoon, so usually beginners can go out first, then you go after--works well.

Check in the promotion forum for Wyatt's place, or Estebans place--Ventana Windsports

Try Vela or Sailboard Vacations to get some info on wind!

I've been there late January, and it was great! Good for a beginner too!
I hear Oct. Nov. and Dec. are not as windy!

Have Fun!

Bonaire is the best for beginners and fun for those who know...not much swell or waves to speak of but good flat water freestyle and a cool scene. major downside is the 16-20 hours of travel time ( from the left coast) you will take to get there! not to mention a repeat testament to the slow service and crappy food when eating out...we ended up cooking most of our meals in our room at the Belmar after several frustrating dining excursions. West coast US vacationers are better advised to hit HI or Baja east cape. there are usually calmer winds earlier in the day for beginners that pick up for the pm...!

Bonaire. Belmar. Worth the extra effort and $$, certainly compared to Aruba.

IMO, good food can be had at:
Cappriccio
Mona Lisa
Cassablanca
Hang-Out Bar at Jibe City (for lunch)

Service is OK if you (a) slow down upon arrival in Bonaire (b)ask for the check when you're finished. Also you can run a tab at the hang out bar (cash only, deposit usually required).

For booking, you can also try Andy at BonairePros.

Cheers.
