A bit scary for me, but I did manage. Got washed once.

Hey Paul,
I got out after you. Wind was turning kinda onshore by them, but I did manage to get on a few waves. Cindie captured some photos.

Later on the waves got bigger but the wind got flukier. At one point I was pumping like mad to catch this big swell. I barely got on it and then I realized it was way to big and starting to hollow out (over logo high). So I then pumped like mad to get just ahead of it to avoid getting crunched . Challenging day for my first day here!

Or ride the weird wave! just don't get backslapped by it! |
...backslapped, then dumped, sloshed and swayed in the wind sucking vortex. I haven't faired too well in that weirdness. At least the waves coming over the Lowers reef are honest with their intentions.
My Kanaha dream day would be to do 5 or 6 turns on each wave, ride the white water back up, complete my tack every time, then out through the upwind channel just in time to jibe onto the next wave...lots to work on.

Glenn James says: "Winds will be on the light side…remaining this way through at least Friday." Looks like big surf all week. Shredbob will be dipping his toe into SUP action on the south side (away from the north shore monsters) and studying up on his "Wave Sailing Secrets Revealed" video at night, hoping for the trades to return.
Aloha.
