Yet another defect today made me wonder when the shops (in the Bay Area) receive the 2011 gear and start closing out their 2010 gear?
I've never really went after that time, but this year I've got multiple masts, sails, one boom to replace so I'm hoping to save some major dollars this time around... |

Don't confine your search to local shops, unless that's deliberate. The rest of the country's shops began closing out weeks ago, and many offer free shipping and no sales tax.

Boardsports at Coyote just had their Labor Day sale (I missed it too). Probably Helm did too.
But if you went in with a shopping list (like you have) to either store, I'm sure they'll make you a good deal even if they have to order it.
The stores around SF bay don't get much business in the winter so they don't order 2011 stuff til Feb or March, unless you special order it. |

We have lot of great gear on closeout!
Call or email me your wish list and I'll put together a package for you.
And thank you for supporting your local shop. We're proud to be serving the SF bay and will always match on-line prices as we are also an on-line retailer.
Moreover, when you buy locally, you get to support the local shop that also teaches new students (who often buy your old gear), help with safety days and windsurfing access issues, are around when you need small parts and put on events like the Matt Prichard free clinic and bbq (this past weekend)....just to name a few benefits
Talk to you soon!

There ya go! You don't need no steenkin' online dealers, jpf.
When one of my two local Ford dealers demanded 15% above list price for a Mustang, I hit the national buying sources. Within a day or two the other local dealer phoned me asking whether I'd pay him $175 over my best national deal (about 15% below list). "Of course; always glad to keep it local." I didn't even ask him to match the national price; I was just glad not to be insulted. When I bought a van a few months later, I didn't even shop around. I just phoned that same guy, got the same deal in 15 seconds, and signed an order.
Guess which dealership is still in business and which one went belly up 20 years ago.

September is the time of year when a lot of store start marking down inventory leading up to the off season. If you want to shop locally, the stores here will do their best to hook you up with a good deal, and you'll get the support and service a local shop has to offer. All the stores offer a different range of brands, and I'm sure one of the local shops can offer you gear to fit your needs. Here's a gear list off the top of my head (sorry for any omissions)
Sunset Sailboards: Fanatic, RRD, JP, Maui Sails, Ezzy, Simmer, Streamlined
Boardsports School: Naish, Starboard, Tabou, Quattro, Hot Sails Maui
Delta Windsurf Co: Exocet, RRD, JP, Ezzy, Maui Sails, Naish
Helm: NP, Ezzy... haven't been in there for a long time, so don't really know what they carry anymore _________________ Kevin Kan

Keep it Local! don't be that guy who buys online then brings it to the local shop to ask for help. |

I can say that Rebecca at Boardsports School can definitely complete with the on-line sites. Similarly, I've found that Delta Windsurf can also craft a great deal. That's from my personal experience. Really though, I have no doubt that any of the companies that Kevin Kan has highlighted can earn your support. Even though the bay area isn't exactly local for me, I think it's important to support California's windsurfing businesses. |
