mat-ty, are you that naive?

All of the major political parties out there, even the foolishly bold tea partiers, want something out of the governmental process. It's about what you want, and it's really not how much money is spent in the scene, as money will be spent in every state in the union, and it's about getting your share. That's why senators and representatives are elected to represent us and our interests.

We've all had a huge dose of fiscal irresponsibility during the Bush/Cheney administration, to include a significant loss of personal liberty crowning it all off. The right can claim no high ground.

I hear all this whining from those folks cornered into finally having to take financial responsibility for their healthcare. They scream foul, like the government is taking from them, but it's only because they aren't willing to take formal responsibility for the care for themselves and their families. Under the old system, they could depend on getting treated for free on everyone else's tab, and ultimately walk away. Predictably they liberally blame illegals for raping the system, but they foolishly forget that others are also looking at their actions too. Frankly, as an American, I expect citizens to be responsible for their role in society.

Dude, you really need to see things how they are.

I think you may be the naive one.
Defending this health care bill, would be almost as foolish as defending Odramas resume. Took a year of lying , cheating, bribing ,back room deals and more to convince there own party to pass a bill no one read!
And in the end it will kill the dipocrats.
Hows the wind in the State Of Denial?

mat-ty, thankfully a good percentage of Americans have taken responsibility for the healthcare of themselves and their families, because that's the smart thing to do in today's society. You never know when an accident will occur, or when good health might fail you or a family member. Speaking for myself, I can say that I've always had appropriate healthcare insurance, and it wasn't ever provided by the government. Having experienced a major health problem in my life, I'm thankful that I was suitably prepared.

The problem with the old system is that folks could be irresponsible and then expect that others would pay for their care when they needed it.

If it was agreed that healthcare wouldn't be offered to those without heathcare insurance, or required to post a cash bond up front, it would be a whole different world in our country. In that scenario, those without proper coverage would be left to suffer or die. Are you willing to eagerly reach into their own pocketbook to selflessly pay for those without healthcare insurance? Again, I seriously doubt that. I'm guessing that you could look the other way when they got washed under the bridge and lost down the river.

In accordance with your tea party principles, why should any responsible Americans be on the hook for the losers who don't think they'll ever suffer a catastrophic healthcare problem? Why in hell should the system incorporate a quasi-socialist net behind the scene and punish those with health insurance to catch those not prepared to stand on their own or take responsible precautions?

You know, you can't have it both ways. Real Americans, even us liberals, welcome those who are responsible citizens that pay their own way.

Where do you stand?

I like most conservatives , we are all for healthcare reform. The current system, of pay out the nose if you can afford it , or go to the emergency room if you can not , is a mess.
I believe it was a Romney who imposed one of the first attemps at universal healthcare, with mixed results, mostly bad. But he tried, and we should have learned what worked, and what did not. I do not believe obama had any interest in anything Romney or any other conservatives had to say.
To say the republicans had no ideas was a flat out lie. Instead they passed a bill loaded with air marks, pork, and spending, that have nothing to do with healthcare. And the method they used to pass it was a disgrace.
Even David Gergon said Ted K would be ashamed of the way this dog was passed.
And in the mean time the economy was tanking, and still is. The dems should have focused on the economy first, and not there spread the wealth , WEALTHCARE BILL.

And exemplifies the reason I don't bother arguing with these people any more. They know the GOP submitted many health care proposals -- some of them have been referenced here and many are discussed all over the media -- but still revert to their lies rather than debate facts easily accessible to all of us.

I would suggest the 6171 posts states otherwise.

Let's be fair and honest about this. When the Republicans controlled the House and the Senate, they were well known for doing exactly the same kind of thing to the Democratic minority. You can't simply forget that and get righteous now. Even this week when the Senate approved a bill to help small businesses, the Republicans unsuccessfully attempted to attach two totally unrelated issues to the legislation. All parties, whether they be Democrats or Republicans, are always angling to wedge in things into legislation that they consider to be meaningful to them and/or their constituents. Unfortunately, those are the facts, whether you like it or not, and nothing is going to really change. Even the tea partiers boldly proclaiming their desire for a smaller less intrusive government have their own pointed agenda that they would love to shove down everyone's throat.

The Republicans would not commit a single vote for a specific amendment. That, my friends, not Isobars or matty's horseshit, is the truth. They could have made the bill a better bill, but they were more interested in a return to power than actually governing.
