Discussions of estate planning are all fine and good, but if you guys want to continue this discussion, can you please move it over to the Off Topic forum http://www.iwindsurf.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=12? If not, can the moderator please do so?

Not really interested in seeing my regional ws forum cluttered up with non-ws chit-chat. While I would not normally suggest such drastic action, the posts show up as new replies in a ws-related topic and I have to wade through them like so much mud at Third Avenue at low tide only to find out that they are off-topic.

Thanks.

Edscott............you're quite right. The subject line drew me to the thread.......I expected to see self rescue tips! I only commented because I don't want my brothers/ sisters of the wind to follow misguided advice.

This topic doesn't die in our parts. Rangers are already personally asking if we are going out late in the day - what next: gear checks?

Andre,

* sailing alone
* late in the day
* on squirrely gear
* far away
* without radio

Is a very stupid thing to do. One would not expect such behavior from a seasoned veteran windsurfer.

Blaming rangers (and in a newspaper, no less) that did not call Coast Guard in that case is like complaing on your bellhop who did not call taxi. They should have, but you shouldn't been there in the first place.

That said, I am glad you made it back safely.

Sergey

Agreed, if you want to be out there sailing in sketchy conditions without taking prudent precautions because it's more adventurous or whatever then you have no beef with CG, bystanders or anyone else. All of your actions were predicated on self sufficiency so better to practice your swimming technique !

I didn't comment on this when it happened but now that its back here are my thoughts.

You should have ditched your rig and swam in dumbass.

If you want to blame someone blame yourself!
