(KIDS ONLY!)
Hi Windsurfers-
If you are a kid and comfortable in the harness and straps, come on down to the waterfront park tomorrow (Friday) morning from 9am to 10am. We're doing a clinic with Phil Saltysiak (PWA competitor currently ranked 8th), and Pete Dekay (Editor of Windsport Magazine).
- Level: Advanced (comfortable in the harness and footstraps)
- Time: 9 – 10am (time changed so that we can try our new moves in east winds if they happen after the clinic!)
- Date: August 13th
- Location: Dry land clinic at the Hood River Waterfront Park (new park between the Event Site and Hook)
- REGISTER: We still want to do a water clinic at the Hatch on a windy day. Sign up here if you want to know about this clinic when it happens.
- Cost: Participation is FREE for registered Gorge Groms. Otherwise, clinic is $20 and includes a Gorge Groms T-shirt and participation in the on-water clinic if/when it happens.
- Topics: Once you are comfortable in the harness and footstraps, there’s an exciting learning curve of freestyle moves, from shortboard helitacking, to jumping and looping. Clinic will focus on dry-land instruction and Q&A. If there are east winds after the clinic we can all go and try our new moves together (east winds have the best waves for trying port jumps, loops and shuvits!). BRING YOUR QUESTIONS!
King of the Hook
For Groms of all ages and abilities, be sure to check out King of the Hook on Saturday evening! Wind or no-wind, come on out for a good time.
Free T-shirts for Gorge Groms
T-shirts are IN for all registered Groms! These are FREE with your Grom registration, thanks to a contribution from the Eddy Yueh Memorial Fund. Pick yours up Friday morning at the Waterfront Park between 8am-9am; you can also register to become a Gorge Grom at that time.
See you then, and have a great weekend!

Here is some inspiration from REAL competitors showing their pizazz at previous King of the Hook events. Go crazy, it's gonna be so much fun!

Any kids that want to learn how to get into planing freestyle...from Duck Jibes to Loops and Spocks...should come to the Waterfront Park today at 9 am.
You'll meet the world's 8th ranked freestyler, Phil Soltysiak, and we'll plan for an onwater session on a later windy date (with Phil, Tyson Poor, Rob Warwick, Casey Hauser and other pros).
Cheers,
Pete
