All the major cities have been run by Democrats for decades. Just look at their economies compared to smaller more conservative cities. You could tax away all the money of all the rich people and you'd never be able to pay this madness off.

BTW: Bill Gates and Warren Buffet will never pay taxes, but will continue to control their own vast wealth for decades to come via chairitable trusts that they own and control into perpetuity.

Hey Bard, do you want to tax rich people or not? Your first paragraph says NO, and your second says YES. And speaking of trusts... arent you a trust funder?

I notice no witty comments from mrgybe, bard or Isobars about the huge ice mass in Greenland, or the news that the Arctic sea has been warmed by 4.5 degrees. I guess the oil companies haven't sent out their talking points e-mail yet.

I have not inherited a thing or ever had a trust fund, but if you're going to tax the $251k guy more, you damn well should not let Gates family control 56 billion for the next 200 years tax free.

Yes they will trickle some to aids research etc....but the rest continues under their control.

Does he remember that the zero estate tax was brought to you by George Bush and expires this year? Or has he figured out a way to blame that on Obama? The talking points will be e-mailed directly to you by the Republican Party!

Bard was not a Bush fan as I recall. Not an Obama fan it seems either.

But if Bard had a choice between having Bush again instead of Obama as president, who do you think he would pick? There's little doubt in my mind that he would opt for Bush to keep the monetary giveaway going to the rich and corporate business. To add to that, throw in rash of policies focused on a lack of business regulation to sweeten up the pie. Money is Bard's mantra.

Good memory keycocker! I'm for the 480 out of 500 s&p companies that didn't receive bailouts. I'm for lower regulation of small to medium size business. I'm for promoting an environment that lures business back to the U.S. I'm for less government bureaucracy, and more govt. productivity.

They say the average govt. worker is now making twice what his private sector counterpart is making. The average govt. worker recieves $42,000 in annual benefits while the average private sector employee receives $10,500. (check the city of Bell as one example) City manger makes $800,000 plus benifits/retirement per year.

I would really like to see some data and analysis explaining that claim. I keep hearing it, but never witnessed it in my immediate family's combined 60 years of federal government civilian and military and corporate jobs across the country. Cumulatively, my wife and I have been lab techs, teachers, chemists, engineers, managers, and researchers, and nowhere in our careers did our government pay and benefits meet, let alone exceed, those of our purely civilian counterparts. On the contrary, we DID see corporate counterparts at our levels earning several times the salaries of their federal government counterparts ... and that doesn't even begin to count outrageous CEO pay and benefits. Major corporate brass often earn literally a thousand times what their military counterparts earn -- as though one could even begin to compare the responsibilities of a Blue Chip CEO with those of a 3-4 star general officer.
