I currently have 97L mistral switch. This has been my go to board for 5.7 and 4.7 conditions on Lake Erie. I run a 32 cm fin most of the time. It is 264 cm and 57.5 wide. I love to play in the waves near the point or reefs. I weight 150lbs and love jibing everytime a good wave face presents itself. I also have 78l mistral heat, but has trouble in the lulls. I do have 120l excite but that is for 6.7 or 8.0. I don't think my new board will take a 6.7.
I would like your comments on these two boards for me. I tried the freewave and used it on 4.7 and 4.2 and jibed like a dream. I hope it is even better for the 5.7 since that would be when I use it 50 % of the tiem. I really didn't have a chance to play in the waves doing bottom turns.
real world wave 91 II 234 cm /7'8" 62 cm /24.4" 91 liters 6.5 kg/14.3 lbs RWW 24 W.Gnigler 4.7-6.2. I can't try.
2007 Freestyle wave FSW 93 II 242 60.0 93 6.0 FSW 27 I have tried.
Is the 2009 Freestyle wave FSW 93 liter better than the 2007 or did they get it right in 07? What did improve or ruin?

I think I would like a longer board like my old mistral.
Your comments are wanted.

My vote the FSW. I have sailed both. The 91 as an oversized wave board is too big. The 93 can do onshore waves if need be and will work for everything else.

FSW faster, more bump and jump, more upwind.
RRW better turning, slashier, more loose and fun.

at 150lbs the 90ish ltr boards seem big for a 4.7?? I'm about 185-190 and use a 2006 85ltr JP FSW for everything here in the San Francisco area 5.9 and below if it is 4.5 or smaller I'll be on a JP Radical wave 74ltr. 4.5 is the crossover for me depending on venue. To put it bluntly the FSW feels like a tank compared to the Radical wave and my FSW 102ltr feels like a container ship compared to the 85ltr version. I would say go for the real world wave under 90ltrs. if you have trouble going upwind experiment with different fins.

Thanks for all your input. I decide to buy the 93 l Freestyle Wave. I had the chance to try it and felt good about dealing with my local shop vs shipping a board to my work.
