And some people believe no airplane hit the Pentagon on 9/11 and that the moon is made of green cheese. |

I had a GOP pollster from Chicago call my Boston home during a lunch break. I made the mistake of picking up the phone.
"I'm calling you to oppose the Right to Repair bill now being considered in Massachusetts."
"I see," I reply. "Who are you with?"
"The Republican Party, sir. I'm calling from Chicago, Illinois"
So, I explained how ironic and troubling it was that the Illinois GOP, bastion of local, home rule and all things "not in my kitchen" decided to try to influence local Massachusetts legislation. Her response:
"Sir, I really only know what they tell me to say. It's easier that way. If you like, I can give you the telephone number of your local representative."
REALLY?? REALLY? |

Dan--that's funny! Don't get me wrong, I actually can live with free speech rights extended to corporations--as long as we know who is paying for the message. The bill rejected yesterday was legislative sausage making at its worst--exceptions carved out to please the left and the right. But the simple fact is that the Republicans blocked consideration of the bill, rather than make it a better bill. They really don't want anyone to know who is paying for the advertisement. Because in many cases that money is coming from really sleazy guys who want to transfer the costs of their transgressions to the public--ie BP and the liability limits that Cheney put into practice.
The TEA party's reaction to yesterday's ruling is pretty funny too. They want to re-fight all of the battles that were fought when we changed from a confederation to a union. Do you suppose any of them have read Common Sense? |

I couldn't make up the story line of the Republicans. Todays news shows huge profits for oil companies, triple last quarter. I guess that means consumers pay more, huh? And the comment of Republican Pete Sessions, in vowing to fight legislation increasing safeguards for off-shore drilling--he's going to tell voters that Democrats were "sticking it to the consumer again at the gas pump."
I thought the purpose of the legislation was to not allow the oil companies to stick it to the environment and the tax payers to clean up after them. These market guys sure want to cling to their subsidies and protection from liability. |

I saw a good bumper sticker the other day, it said: "I'm too poor to vote republican". |

Wow I just noticed this forum. The only thing I enjoy as much as windsurfing is pissing off liberals.
Do you clueless libs realize your days are numbered. in November we will see the biggest turn around in American history.
America will send Obama and the far left morons he surrounds himself with packing, and we will start to get our sanity back.
THe only people left in his camp will be moon bats and and the non tax paying toothless scumbags that suck off the hard working people of this country. |

Sadly, that's too easy. It's the one sport easier than kiting . All you have to do is say something patriotic and they go ballistic. Use the word "immigrant" or “terrorist”, or criticize any Obama policy, or say “Say WHAT?” when Rep Maxine Waters says black people should receive taxpayer funds to attend hip-hop concerts, and they’ll hiss “You're a seething racist”. Cite a thousand years of peer-reviewed data mitigating AGW and you -- and 30,000 fellow scientists -- are blithering idiots denying that TheEndIsNearBooHooHoo. Suggest that competent people earn their own way through life and they howl that you're a selfish elitist. Criticize socialism, Marxism, fascism, or communism -- hell, just utter those words -- and you're an ignerrent radnick from the wrong side of the trax who needs to be drug tested. Demand facts from them, and they'll change topics and/or attack yo momma. Cite published data from the IRS or the Census Bureau and they'll scream that you got 'em from Beck or Savage ... who, of course, are never right simply because they are on the right. Attend a peaceful rally opposing the biggest tax increases in the history of the world on every U.S. citizen, and you’re a Nazi KKK teabagger. And suggest that our laws obey the Constitution -- the law that governs what laws we can write -- and you’re … you’re … sputter … fume … an effing ANTI-LIBERAL. (I don’t need them to tell me that; they made their own bed.)
Naaah, it’s so easy it’s gotten boring. |
