it means everything in life is a compromise... more rake sheds weeds and grass but maybe not so pretty on a wave....the Surfgrass is like the sancarlos mfc with a little kicker in the front, but i think you need a pretty good rake to shed the grass, and i have been unwilling to give up a wave profile.
My twin fin catches twice as much grass, but i could believe that a quad with much smaller fins might not
I am in the process of grinding down some twin fin weeders as no one makes production (yet) _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

to add fuel to the fire on Quads & weeds, my quad conversion in OBX with pretty small fins, 12cm as the largest, sailed fine, but weeds a factor,
did not get enough wind as its 69L to do a lot of expermints.so..
not conclusive that weeds were the only issue( tended to point the nose into the wind..while going straight)
Rode a Tabou twin, with cut down weed fins, so not only weed fins but smaller as well, it did the same, nose issue, locals said weeds.
I would have thought the little quad fins would have shed weeds, but the same is sort of standard windsurf , and more of them. _________________ K4 fins

Ok. I understand everything is a comprimise. But I still dont get it. You did a test comparing two fins. I am intersted in the results. Which one shed more weeds? Which one had better wave performance? Thanks. |

sorry, but have not tried the MFC SC, the True Ames Waveweed , is very good against weeds, and turns like a rat with Nikes..
again the MFC weedburner, was a toss up to da TA fin, the MFC SC, seems well accepted from previous reads _________________ K4 fins

The MFC weed wave is much better at shedding weeds.
Surf grass and MFC san Carlos have a little kicker at the top of the fin that pushes the weed donw the fin so it is easier to hop or if powered flow off.
The san carlos is a better riding fin. It has similar performace to a regular fin.
The traditional weed fins are less turny and feel slower. Not as crisp a ride.
hope that clarifies |
