Here they come. Had some sightings in maine. Mile and a half out. They think they were basking sharks which also look alot like great whites. Would you like to to stick around to tell the diffrence if you were out on the water?

I saw the photo of the dorsal fin definitely a basking shark.
Great whites don't swim on the surface all that much.
This is where we windsurf and kite all the time. Notice in this video they never break the surface. Shocked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3f9IOl4IZ8

They say that the teeth are so sharp that it's not really painful.

Yep, maybe that Maine shark was a basker, but a friend from RI told me some fishermen caught a 10-ft great white in a "fish trap"(something they do in RI, I guess) in early June.

Water's warm, & seals a-plenty, so they're probably here already Shocked

I did some research and apparently that was last year. Not this year. Confused

Only off by a year?? Embarassed Just goes to show, don't believe everything you hear/read !! I guess this year's shark didn't get caught, so he must have swam right on by that fish trap on his way to Chatham Shocked

You wouldn't happen to have any info on where those tagged sharks traveled over the past ~9mo.'s??
