What you guys thinks?
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said today he was approving the nation's first offshore wind farm, the controversial Cape Wind project off of Cape Cod.

This will break a wind defenatelly and slow it down.

Looks like it's miles away from Kalmus. I suspect we'll be ok even in a southerly breeze.

Might hurt the seabreeze drivers, but likely it will do nothing to kalmus's wind

Who knows? Maybe it will have the opposite effect....

Do not have time to do the math, but I think you can get the idea from this paper.

From Wikipedia

The footprint for the proposed project covers 24 square miles, and would be 4.8 miles (7.7 km) from Mashpee, on the south coast of Cape Cod, and 15.8 miles (25.4 km) from the island town of Nantucket. The project envisions 130 horizontal-axis wind turbines, each having a hub height of 285 feet. The blade diameter is 364 feet (111 m), with the lowest blade tip height at 75 feet (23 m) and the top blade tip height at 440 feet (130 m).[2] The turbines would be sited between 4–11 miles offshore depending on the shoreline.

That's freakin huge. 440 feet above the water. 24 square miles.
It's gonna be one ugly Mother% $ * & if you ask me. I think it will defintely screw up the wind.
Can you trust the government? Just ask the Indians!

funny post outcast; the difference being the turbines on land in the canaries, so you get to sail in the wind before it gets all chopped up. in my area, the noise from a wind farm is driving the abutters nuts, really. don;t know if we'll hear this one onshore.

It might help mix the wind down to the surface and reduce the decoupling when the water is cold in the spring.
Let's hope Rolling Eyes

I don't really care too much one way or the other.....It ain't perfect.
By the same token, that oil fire in the gulf wasn't/isn't too much fun.

And if you want to talk ugly, look at what we have now:
