the rape and molestation and raping 13 years olds is a low priority of the people too, but does that mean we let off trump and his best best friend Epstein for over 60 rapes of children he settled with and the rest of the child rapists in their click?

I say we go waterboard Epstein till we get every child rapists name from him.

Friggen washington times, a paper that never turned a profit otther than the founder Rev Sun Young moon, the founder of the moonies that use to pan handle at airports that laws had to be made to stop his followers. again a ultra right wing paper that funded all things clinton with another trust fund media owner richard mellon scaife.

What the hell are you on?

My 'anecdotal tobacco ill logic stupidity' is to at least take seriously the statement from the Russian Science Academy of a couple of years ago of their forecast of imminent cooling connected with solar output. (Starting in about 20 to 30 years time as they claimed.)

No doubt you consider yourself the font of all wisdom and can dismiss their well qualified scientists are idiots and clowns, but you'd be well advised to curb tour arrogance. You make a big enough fool of yourself as it is!

To quell any obvious dismissive retort you will undoubtedly make, I am NOT, repeat NOT claiming they are necessarily right, or that the 'anecdotal' snow (real enough in reality) is proof of their correctness. I am saying that there remains room for doubt, and that a succession of bad winters COULD (possibly) be some kind of confirmation.

If warmers feel entitled to quote their anecdotal evidence (early spring budding, and hot days in Australia etc, then I can counteract with our snow. I retrain an open mind, you are the proverbial dismissive know all!

Since our start of March (officially the start of Spring) is now claimed to be the coldest ever since our records began, I would hazzard a guess the ascribing it just to random weather is not quite as simple as the 'experts' might suggest. I believe that some change is taking place, but not necessarily in the way that is always stated. Perhaps the predictions of imminent cooling (next 20 to 30 years time) may be more accurate than is being accepted. ...

GT, I think "open mind" is not a correct description of your position. You know well that global warming is not based on anecdotal evidence. And I'm sure you know that for every cold anecdote there is a warm one, like the missing arctic sea ice north of Greenland this Winter, not too far from you.

One thing I wonder is why people who would never rely on wishful thinking in their normal lives, and I suspect that includes you, do so when it comes to global warming? I mean, hoping that a Russian prediction of cooling 20 years from now may come true?

LH. For what reason do you suppose the Russian Science Academy made a prediction which went against the consensus? Were they indulging in wishful thinking? That hardly strikes me as a logical assumption.

As I understood comments on the original claim, the Russian shipbuilding industry was a very interested party in their research. They have to design and build ice-breaking oil tankers which have to force their way through the Siberian ice-fields to the Northern oil field loading ports. According to the warming consensus, the ice fields are in retreat so it should be easier. According to the Academy, it won't be!

You are no doubt aware that the 70.000 ton ice-breaking oil tanker Mickael Ulyanov (2008) was a pioneering design to forge solo through up to 2 metres thick ice fields. On the basis of the Academy prediction they are said to be building even bigger and stronger tankers in future. Why would they do this if the Academy prediction is nonsense? (Money talks.)

P.S. I know anecdotal evidence is inadmissable (unless it is constantly taking place) but I'm a very naughty boy! (As are many global warmers, who also should know bwtter.)

So GT, what progress has been made at getting the Russian Science Academy's study peer reviewed and published in prestigious journals? I have nothing against people with provocative hypotheses, but the peer review and publication route is the path to change scientific direction.

You might suppose that those of us in the United States are skeptical of fake news--and poisoning--from Russia. I would expect most Brits are as well.

Yes Mac, I agree. I'm not trying to suggest that the Russians have super powers and understanding, denied to us in the West. But I do deplore the prevalent notion that the Ruskies must be seen as backward fools who must be ridiculed. (Not getting at anyone.)

The only thing approaching peer review of the Academy claim I've read of is the Northumbrian University study of the suns magnetic activity (mathematical model I quoted in this thread on 27 Dec 2017) indicating the possibility of a so called mini ice-age starting to take effect as soon as 2021, and lasting for over 30 years.

As I frequently point out, I do not deny there has been a clear degree of warming, but I bristle at the claims that predicting the future is a clear and straight forward matter because WE are in charge of nature.

Much of my face to face discussions are with local (Yorkshire Moors and Dales) people who are under no illusion about the 'hostile' effects of nature in the raw, so to speak, with its frequently overwhelming forces not (yet) within our power to control. That tends to put things in perspective, a view which comfortable and sheltered city dwelling disguises.

Incidentally, with regard to ice-breaking design in large oil tankers, the American Manhattan 105,000 tonner which forced a way through the N.W.Passage all those years ago, the main problem facing such attempts was highlighted. The sheer friction (stiction) of the ice pack scraping along the near parallel sides of the 940 foot long hull radically affected its speed and ability to 'carve' forward. (It also needed smaller ice-breaker support to keep it from getting stuck.)

Later research in marine tanks (scale models) alleviated this problem to a large extent by introducing a system of pressurised vents along sections of the hull at waterline height, and below. These 'lubricate' the flow of ice along the hull, and radically reduce the 'stiction', allowing the ship to maintain reasonable speed without excess of engine power. Also, the propulsion systems are now by swivelling azipods which also allow the ship to unblock itself if caught in a dangerous pincer movement of ice flows. (Always in motion with dangerous pressure ridges forming.)

That Russian tanker also has all the latest electronic gismo's and radars so that it can plot a safer course on its own, with no need for any escort. I'm surprised that there have been no further efforts across the N.W.Passage, though with the Alaskan pipe line I suppose it isn't now a viable economic option.

IQ30 you are such a low level thinker.... here let me fill in the gaps because you just are such a low level thinker...

well idiot you used a moonie publication who went after Clinton for how many years because of a affair and that was a high priority to right wingers special the rich trust fund and religious wacko media owners.

Where now the right wing media would not even ask for a independent counsel for Trump who had a lawsuit before he was elected that he beat and savagely raped a child when she was 13 at trums best friends home who is a convicted serial pedophile with an estimated 60 payoff to girls he raped as 13-14 year olds. Ya trump claims he has paid off more than 100. Clintons handful of consensual affairs that went to impeachment because he said he did not have sexual relations which was not a crime in the first place. Raping children is a crime that you and your right wingers are fine with.

Again so when your washington times a ultra religious moony publication determines what are priorities I say well they did with clinton on what appears to be nothing compared to trump beating and raping children... and threatening to kill them and their family. Boy does that sound like trumps life MO.

You just can not handle the truth... you low level thinker... IQ of 30

Again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again. As if repetition will send us all to join you in your bunker.
How about you just start your own website, "How to get away with raping a 13 year old", and then you could just send us all your link. But you better be offering a free tee shirt or we won't show up, it could have an image of a sexy 13 year old on it.

In the mean time, just talk about the glories of global warming here, that's what it's for.
