mat-ty, the times are not to think too shallow. Did I ever mention that oil, or even coal can't be in our future? I think that many like you miss the picture.

How foolish was it for Donald Trump to walk back a broad base of standards that challenged energy producers to move into a more viable and sustainable future while improving emissions controls and our environment overall. To retract our commitment to the Paris Accords was infinitely stupid in preparing America for the future. Innovation and technological development is the key to opening the doors for America to stay on top.

The idea that rolling back regulations and allowing corporations the opportunity to greedily strip our nation for profit without reasonable constraints and regulations is ludicrous and irresponsible. With the corporate windfall offered by the passage of the Republican tax bill, it would be unconscionable not to demand stricter requirements that would focus on a better environment and a more sustainable future.

The Paris Accords was an AWFUL deal for America. Thank god we have a president that puts Americas interest first, NOT THE LIBERAL GLOBAL AGENDA.

Energy independence is now a reality thanks to President Trump.

No doubt, you're ignoring a big reality as we move into the future. I guess it must be better for you to simply turn back to the standard Republican talking points. Yet, you have to remember that most thoughtful nations in the world don't see it your way. It would be sad to pass on our opportunities to be a leader into the distance future.

Things you will not read about or hear on web-sites funded by big carbon, or Fox and Friends. The bill for adapting to climate change will be in the trillions, and will be given to our grandchildren. Selfish Matty will rationalize his greed until he dies.

2017--when you use scientific measurements instead of Malibu repeating Trump tweets--was one of the hottest years on record, and without an El Nino accounting for part of that heat. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/01/18/climate/hottest-year-2017.html?ref=todayspaper

The droughts caused by climate change are already contributing to mass migrations and violence in the world--a fact well understood by the US military.

Quote:
UNITED NATIONS — Nigeria. Syria. Somalia. And now Iran.

In each country, in different ways, a water crisis has triggered some combination of civil unrest, mass migration, insurgency or even full-scale war.

In the era of climate change, their experiences hold lessons for a great many other countries. The World Resources Institute warned this month of the rise of water stress globally, “with 33 countries projected to face extremely high stress in 2040.”

A water shortage can spark street protests: Access to water has been a common source of unrest in India. It can be exploited by terrorist groups: The Shabab has sought to take advantage of the most vulnerable drought-stricken communities in Somalia. Water shortages can prompt an exodus from the countryside to crowded cities: Across the arid Sahel, young men unable to live off the land are on the move. And it can feed into insurgencies: Boko Haram stepped into this breach in Nigeria, Chad and Niger.

Iran is the latest example of a country where a water crisis, long in the making, has fed popular discontent. That is particularly true in small towns and cities in what is already one of the most parched regions of the world. Farms turned barren, lakes became dust bowls. Millions moved to rovincial towns and cities, and joblessness led to mounting discontent among the young. Then came a crippling drought, lasting roughly 14 years.

In short, a water crisis — whether caused by nature, human mismanagement, or both — can be an early warning signal of trouble ahead. A panel of retired United States military officials warned in December that water stress, which they defined as a shortage of fresh water, would emerge as “a growing factor in the world’s hot spots and conflict areas.”

How bad is it? South Africa will run out of water on April 1. https://www.forbes.com/sites/trevornace/2018/01/18/mad-max-scenario-cape-town-run-out-water-90-days/#76a5a6515414

Put your head deeper in the sand, or repeat API propaganda. You're already paying for the climate wars.

Sorry mat-ty, the Heritage Foundation opinion piece is riff with biased and totally unsupported conclusions. It's pretty clear to me that the influence of energy producers is what's behind the opinions offered.

Moreover, the idea that private companies are going innovate and develop leading edge technological changes without government regulations is specious at best. Trump and his administration is going foolishly in the wrong direction, and the rampant stripping of environmental and emissions related regulations relieves polluters from being controlled and responsible moving into the future. Needless to say, unleashing endless greed and focusing on profits will only benefit corporations and their stockholders.

Once again, Malibu has gotten excited and posted that it is winter. How profound. Maybe he didn't notice it in Los Angeles because of global warming.

Scientific American

Pollution in the atmosphere is having an unexpected consequence, scientists say—it's helping to cool the climate, masking some of the global warming that's occurred so far.

That means efforts worldwide to clean up the air may cause an increase in warming, as well as other climate effects, as this pollution disappears.

Everyone's confused Mac, including you

Isn't the circumstances beaching the US Navy vessel more about the propulsion technology used? I'm thinking that those jet propulsion units that drive the vessel can't handle chunks of ice in making it go. Kind of foolish launching such a high tech vessel designed for a different environment at the height of winter. Leave it the Trump Administration to plan and orchestrate such a boondoggle.
